First sugestion will be .... Convert pictures to proper size before importing to Authoring program.
Second, VCD is very low resolution... maybe you should go up..Pinnacle Studio 8 and DV home video editing (ver.9 already home) -
Whether you make a VCD or DVD slideshow the resolution is the same 704x480(576 PAL).I recommend Ulead PictureShow 2 or MovieFactory 2 and make sure you set your camera to 1024x768,4 megapixels and no compression(100% quality).

thanks guys for that, may i ask, do any of the programmes you suggest allow me to maintain the resolution of the images? i take them at high resolution and was hoping to keep that quality!
also, if i dont use VCD as a format, what else could i use??? -
Problem is in TV. Resolution of standard TV is low so there is no way to display 2,048 x 1,536 or whatever your resolution is. As always... I might be wrong on this but that is how I understand it. Of course there is HDTV

I've used ULead's PictureShow 1 and 2, and it works great. You don't have to convert your pics beforehand, just drag and drop into your slideshow. If you took the pics at high quality, they will stay high quality. Give it a try. Remember to create a SVCD not VCD.
