OK, I'm in an odd situation.... I lose frames during my captures (about one frame lost every one minute) no matter I try to do. I tried using PicVideo instead of Huffy Codec, I tried trying lower quality settings. OK, here is the trippy part... I still lose frames if I capture @ 80x60 resolution (yes thats right, 80x60, which is like a small blot on the monitor!). It's DEFINITELY not my system... here's the info...
1.33Ghz AMD TBird
MSI K7 Master Mobo
GeForce2 MX 200
Pinnacle Studio PCTV Pro Card
256MB DDR Ram [Micron]
Windows XP Profesisonal [Final Build 2600]
VirtualDub v1.4.7
It can't be my system, kinda bizarre to lose frames even when capturing @ 80x60 if ya ask me.

Make sure you have DMA enabled, try defragging your HD, and choose 16bit RGB or YUY2 format. At 80x60 you clearly shouldn't be dropping frames
Maybe take a look at http://www.geocities.com/lukesvideo for some more info/sight. Might want to post the question on their fourm. -
Check your setting on the capture menu under timing.
If "Adjust Video Clock Dynamically to Match Audio Clock"
is checked, VirtualDub will add/drop frames to keep the
video in synch with the audio. (It will say you dropped a
frame even if it adds one). I had this same problem, although you may have a problem with audio/video synch in longer captures if this is unchecked.

That's right.
Jeomite, this sort of frame dropping is of no significance. It is probably caused by slight timing irregularities in your capture card or soundcard. You will not notice any skipping in the video. This sort of frame dropping actually helps keep the video and audio in sync.
Furthermore, this sort of frame dropping is probably impossible to eliminate without buying a new soundcard/capture card combo.

Rally,
That did the trick. Thanks for the info. From everyone's point-of-view, should I leave this option checked ON or OFF?
