    does anyone know if there is a faster way to convert from MOV (or AVI, MP4...) to MPEG1 than ffmpegx vcd preset. (do not want to shell out cash. for toast or anything). on my 800 mhz G3 iBook (256 mb RAM) it takes me about 6-8 hours. for about an hour and a half of .MOV. thanks

    ffmpeg converts waaaay faster than Toast and provides much better results.

    are you saying that this all day (or all night) event is the fastest that can be converted?

    Unless you want to buy a faster Mac... I think the numbers for the Dual 1.25 were something like 1.25 hrs for ffmpegX or close to 5 hrs for the Toast plugin. This was on a 75 minute DV/DVCPRO-NTSC movie. Waaaay faster using ffmpegX.

    I agree. I think that ffmpegX is faster and does a better job than Toast.
