    HI,

I am trying to convert XVID or DivX files into MPEG2 (SVCD).

No matter what software I use, I always have troubles.

In TMPGenc & Main Concept Encoder the resulting MPEG file is out of sync between audio & video.
In EO Video I get an error saying "Unexpected audio stream end in source file 1, file may be corrupted"

Please note that this happens in many files, not only in a specific file.
How can I figure out what is wrong in my system?

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    Amir.

  2. What is your EXACT method. You speak of using tmpgenc but how does that fit into your encoding ?

    I tried 2 methods:

    1. I seperate the video and audio using VirtualDub, and then choose the files in the project wizard in TMPGenc, with no specail options. I try to create one big MPEG file.
    2. I choose the file directly in the project wizard, without prior seperation.

As I mentoned the result file in always out of sync.

Relevant point is, that when I use method 1, and seperate the audio and video, and try to use Main Concept encoder, it always crashes. Method 2 is working in it, but the result is bad.

If your source AVI is downloaded (perhaps using some P2P network?) it's more likely than not that they suffer from bad frames, that has to be removed with VirtualDub before encoding. This is the likely problem if your audio and vide suddenly goes out of sync at one or more points.
If your movie starts out perfect, but then gradually, thruout the movie, gets more and more out of sync, it's more likely a frame rate problem: You're encoding to anither frame rate than the original AVI.

Filling out your profile would help a LOT!!! If you are doing a PAL conversion (source or destination), then you need extra steps, a straight TMPG encode usually gets out of sync. I suspect this may be your problem if it's never worked?

If you are d/l all you AVI's then you are generally dealing with low quality (bad framnes, corrupt, 1 disk low bitrate wonders). Try better source material or backup straight from DVD.

  7. you can encode with TMPG and use MPEG2VCR to fix the sound problem by movie the sound around

    Hi,

Sorry for my profile. I upadte it now.

Yes, the files were downloaded from the net.

I did convert many files before with no problem, whatever the source was. I did have problem in a certain file, but usualy everyhing worked flawlessly.

I had to reinstall my operating system. I made a new fresh install of Windows XP. Since the new installation, almost every and each convertion cause a lots of troubles.
If I had a problems only with a specific file, I was giving up already.

But I have many files now (most of them are XVID) I try to convert all the files, with no success, even with one of them.

I am doing NTSC to PAL conversion. Again, before I never had to do something special for it to work. Main Concept encoder has a built in conversion capabilty NTSC-->PAL, but now always loses sync.

The sync problem starts, right at the beginning. It doesn't happen gradually.
I am familiar with such a problem, but this is not the case.

Do you think that this could be a codec problem?.

I feel that the problem related to a certain mis-configuration in Windows, not to specific software.
    Where can I start look?

    Thanks.
    Amir.
