  1. Is there a way to enable the firewire port on my computer to be an output as opposed to an input?

What I want to do is capture full screen shots on my computer and send them to my DV camera.

Why? PM me and I will tell you.

All firewire pports on PC/Macs are in/out, you just need the right software. Windows XP has Moviemaker 2 that allows export back to the DV device (camera etc), or any trial video editing app (e.g Ulead Video Studio, DVD Movie factory etc). Yo will need to encode your screen shots to DV AVI format and then export.

  4. You see I do not want to use a program to do screen captures. I have tried it before, they are too slow. Maybe I will have to try it on my new computer, it may be fast enough.

I have programs that are able to send back to my miniDV camcorder, but it was just movie files. I want it to send a live feed of my computer screen.

Anyone have anything else for me?

  5. The only program I know to output avi movies thru a firewire to a mini-dv camera connected to a tv is video2dv.
However the video output is very slow on the tv (the sound seems to be in sync). I am not sure whether its the firewire card that is slow or my processor (650MHz). Does anyone know of any other programs that i could use to output movies to the firewire.

    Thanks in advance

  7. I believe that any sofware that will let you capture through Firewire will let you output your edited result back on tape. Only problem can be camcorder. Some of them have DV out but not DV in. At least in Europe some cheap models have this feature disabled.

  8. Yes but it does not allow you to send a live feed of your computer screen out!

  9. My mistake.... Did you find anything that can do that ? Another option will be use some program (I know that they exist) to capture your PC in som kind of video file and then use Editing software to convert it to DV and feed it on tape....

Both companies make a program to capture your screen to a file..
HOWEVER this will not be a "live" image of your deskltop..
but what happened during the capture event

  11. I know about the screen capturing programs. The only problem is that they eat up too much resources and slows down the computer and the slide show. The slide shows that I am playing have a lot of pictures and animations. That is why I want to go away from the screen capturing program.

I still can not find what I want! DAMN!

  12. And what about using TV-out from Video card and capture it to DV camcorder ? Just an idea

  13. Yes I know...I would love to, but I do not have a TV card. I already have the DV camera that can capture.

  14. OK. I guess, since you don't know what I am talking about, you don't have Video Card with TV-Out. Not TV capture card..... Some Video Cards (the one that lets you see things on monitor) have also special output that will let you send signal instaed of to monitor... to TV (or other source). It seems that you are running out of options...

U-Lead VS7.0 will send output through firewire to external TV monitor.
I use ADVC-100 and works pretty well.

  16. Machine514, what you want doesn't exist. There is no program that can take your PC screen and convert it to a DV video stream -- not in real-time anyway.

Your best option is as stated before, get a video card with TV out.

    Regards.

  17. Even though it is bad, it is an answer and I can move on.

    Thanks!
