I need high def 1920x1080 that can be captured real time through the firewire port in my laptop. I use Adobe Onlocation for direct capture to the pc . There are numerous features to capturing video this way (like easy monitoring and control with a jib, etc). I have a Sony SR11 and it has no 1394 connection. It seems all hard drive camcorders don't have 1394.

The only product reasonably priced is the Sony HC9 which write to tape, but it only has 1400x1080 output (4x3 format SD HD). Once again, I don't care about the tape issue, I want the HD stream in iLink connection.

HDMI output doesn't count as firewire as no laptops use it as an input, and even if they did, I wouldn't buy a new laptop, I would just get a better camcorder.

I know if I step up to prosumer they have the feature, but that is way too much money.

Does anyone know of a 19x10 camcorder with firewire (which proably means records too tape)?

Thanks for the quick reply. Funny, I was actually at that exact site/camera right before I made this post , but couldn't find out how to get the specs from the web site. I guess I should have went to B&H spec page. Dumb me. Anyways, it looks good and is in the price range. Now I have to try it out with OnLocation CS4 and my laptop at some local retail store to see what I get for a file format. The next limitation might be my laptop or the software., but step one done.

    Thanks again.

The frame size may be 4:3 but the encoded picture is 16:9.
