  1. Hi. I recently used DVD2One to try and backup the full disc of "Jackass: The Movie" that I own. I really don't want to split to two discs, since I've used DVD2One before and was happy with the quality.

Here's what happens: I get a brand-new title set and I tried to do the usual thing: burn it with RecordNow Max.

The problem is: once the "Initializing Disc" stops and the burning commences, it tells me that only 200-250 MB of data are going to be burned! I am burning at 1X, using good media. I don't see what the problem could be.

Since I've had this problem, I've made several other DVD2One backups, and haven't had a problem. It's just "Jackass" that is giving me problems.

I also tried DVDShrink, but it doesn't compress enough (smallest possible title set would be 4.7 GB). Even running the original 7+ GB title set through DVDShrink, then DVD2One (or vice versa) produces the 200 MB data problem.

Could it be that there is too much stuff on the disc to backup? Could DVD2One be doing something that is screwing up the title set?

I am going nuts; hopefully someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Run DVDshrink an remove unneeded audio.
Do you really need AC3-2, AC3-6, DTS-6, and foreign languages?
    It will fit.

Anyway, the problem may be the computer and HD, not the movie itself. Defrag. Disk doctor.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.

  3. Thanks for the suggestions.

The audio tracks aren't that big. There are DD 5.1, 2.0, and a pair of commentary tracks I believe. Anyway, they only take up a few hundred MBs of space (about 300-400 I believe).

I'd like to keep the menus and all the special features, so I am trying to use DVD2One to accomplish this.

Defragged the HD, still got the 200 MB data problem.

Jackass: The Movie is the only DVD I have had problems with, backing up with DVD2One. Everything else works fine.

    Hopefully, someone has a solution.

    Thanks,
    J.P.

  4. Well, I tried DVDShrink again.

I kept only the English 5.1 track. Also, I used Level 4 compression, which created a 4.3 GB title set.

However, when I put the title set to burn in RecordNow Max, the 200 MB data problem came up again.

I am going crazy with this disc. I think that this movie is the problem.

Has anyone backed up "Jackass: The Movie" using a full disc backup?

    Hopefully, someone has a solution.

    Thanks,
    J.P.

  5. What happens if you rip the DVD using SmartRipper then delete everything except the VIDEO_TS.IFO and main movie title set VOB files then run DVD2one?

  6. The solution to your problem is obvious,
you just won't admit it...recordmax is
    broken somewhere, download demo of
nero, or for that matter instantcopy, and
burn it that way, when i installed update
    to dvd2one(vers111) i think, recoedmax
just makes coasters now....i used dvd2one
to IC to burn, takes 10 xtra minutes that way

  7. Thanks for the replies.

Bob W, I haven't tried what you suggested. I'll give it a try later.

Musher70, that's what I thought at first, that RecordNow Max was screwing up things. However, I don't think that is the case, or maybe it is (but just for this one backup).

Since I've been working on backing up Jackass the Movie, I've burned dozens of DVD-R and CD-R discs (including some DVD backups made with DVD2One, both movie-only and full-disc backups) and they came out perfect.

It's something with the Jackass disc that is throwing things off.

Maybe I should look into that InstantCopy program.

    Thanks,
    J.P.

  8. Well, I finally made a backup of the movie!

I used IMGTool Classic to make an image of the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders. At first, RecordNow Max seemed to give me the same problem, saying that it would take only 10 minutes to burn (at 1x) the image. However, the correct 4+ Gig filesize showed up, and the "time remaining" adjusted.

So, it looks like I will be making images of my title sets from now on. It seems to ensure full, perfect burns.

Thanks to everyone for their help!
