Lotr xtended Hellish Elvish Subs!

I've ripped both discs using dvddecrypter, joined together with vobedit, then sorted the ifo file with ifoedit.

Note that this is the first time I have used Vob & Ifo edit, so it may be something I've done in these programs.

I have included the first then the last subtitles, both seem to work, but the subtitles come out as big bright green characters, that are very difficult to read.

The subs are white when I play the original disc. What the *&^% is going on?

I had the same problem with U-571. In this film the movie is divided over two different titles (vobs). I used DVDDecrypter to rip the files to my harddisk. After this I renamed the vobs to form a correct order. I used IfoEdit to create ifo files and I used DVD2One to make a one disc movie. When I played it the subtiles where green and difficult to read.

I had no solution to this problem until a read a guide to convert episode DVDs. This guide tells you to take the subtitle color from the original movie and copy it in new movie using IfoEdit. I don't know the exact page but the starting point is www.dvd2dvdr.com/Episode_Guide.htm. It is located somewhere in the NON-Strand guide. I didn't try it myself yet.

This is starting to get on my nerves

I know the LOTR extended version can be backed up onto one dvdr, I know this because so many people seem to have achieved it. I have the correct programs and guides, but I just can't make the jump and get the backup done.

I have been using the following programs:

DVDdecrypter - ripping discs to seperate folders

VobEdit - To join both discs of vobs. I'm not 100% sure I'm getting it right. I simply move & rename all vobs 001-013 in a seperate directory, then join them.

IfoEdit - Again I am not confident that I have used this program correctly.

The first time I used these programs I was left with a the full film, but with green elvish subtitles.

I have been looking at Vobsub to keep the forced subs and get rid of the rest, but this is another program that I'm very new to.

Once the film, (including elvish subs), is ready I am going to use DVD2ONE to get it down to size.

PLZZZZZZZ someone who has managed to complete the backup, give me a few pointers. I am going round in circles at the moment, and every time I think I have sorted it, I end up getting more confused I think the problem is too many new programs at once, I have followed basic guides to get where I am using VobEdit, IfoEdit and VobSub, but do not understand the functions to any degree.

Its a shame there isn't a guide out there showing the entire process, so new newbie's don't get tangled up in guides for 100's of different programs.

Babachan is right on. It is IDOEdit that is causing your green, blocky subtitles. You have to manually change the subtitle format info. The link that Babachan provided is bad, but do a search on this board for something like "ifoedit green subtitles." I have read about this numerous times on here and it is an easy fix.
