  1. Hi all,
I am still deciding if i should go for CPU with 800 FSB for my new computer. The main purpose for my new computer is just to edit digital movie and maybe encode some movies. But I still don't know if the 800 FSB is worth the expense. Anybody can help me out with this? I was told that 800 FSB is really fast. Is it really? Does it give a big difference from 500 FSB? Also, what memory card will give 800 FSB full function? I do a research and hear someone tell me that Rambus is the correct memory for 800 FSB CPU. I am also told that Rambus is not standard memory. So what's up, guys? Any helps or replies would be greatly appreciated. Peace!

Faster? Yes. Worth it? Depends. Intel has slid the 800mhz FSB into some of the CPUs under 3ghz now... so personally if I was spending the cash I'd throw in the extra 50 or so dollars for the 800mhz FSB version of the CPU. Every little bit helps.

I imagine that you have to have the right sort of m/b to use this technology- I will be eventually investing in a new P4 computer maybe around christmas and will want to get the right stuff.

  4. if you are not upgrading you motherboard make sure it can support such speeds.

2 P4 processors of the same clock speed, one with a higher fsb (but therefore lower multiplier) would outperform a processor of lower fsb but higher multiplier. So, i guess it is worth it, unless the price difference is huge!
1)Why Not Overclock a little?! speed 4 free!!!!
    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website

Here is a great article on the 800fsb from tomshardware.

I am building my father in law a new comp next month. going to have the 2.4ghz 800fsb w/ 512mb DDR dual channel memory running on the msi 865 neo 2 mobo. also a G4 ti4200 8x-agp video card. All for $500 , well worth the price if u ask me.

800 FSB is really a marketing ploy...
The P4 chip and chipset that use 800 FSB is really Quad Speed pipe line of 200 mhz FSB so....
    200 x 4 = 800..
    Next Generation Classic......

  7. Thank you very much for all of your replies. I really appreciate it.

One more thing, if it's worth it to spend some cash on 800 FSB, then what type of memory will make it work at full function? Thanks in advance!
