  1. I'm simply looking for a card that can do the following:

Encode in MPEG-1 mode in real time at higher resolutions than 320x240..let's say 640x480

I know some card do it in MPEG-2 mode but I really need MPEG-1...

    Thanks

I have a winfast 2000 and Iv'e just done a small test at the settings you want, and it played back ok for my eyes. Maybe others will see it differantly. Hope this helps.

  3. I just bout a canopus MVR-1000...it cost 700$ US and it can't even capture at higher resolution than 320x240 in MPEG-1 mode. It can only do it in MPEG-2.

Are you sure you card can do it and in REAL time?

Maybe Iv'e got it wrong. I'm not 100% sure what you mean by "real time"
I simply recorded it on to my hard drive and played it back in WMP to check what it looked like. Can one of the OLDIES on the forum explain it to me?

  5. By REAL TIME I mean, you put the DVD in the dvdplayer, you start the capture and it encodes directly to MPEG in real time. You don't have to capture and then encode. It captures directly to MPEG.

  6. Data translation Broadway can do MPEG1 realtime, check capture link on left. The link is www.b-way.com Broadway Pro DVD is their newer board.

It will capture in realtime to mpeg1 via their input ports on the card. Just connect your dvd player output port to the Broadway input port
