I had almost forgotten about this. What it boils down to is that DVD2one(PC) finds Encrypted Data in files from Unencrypted DVDs and DVDs created with DVD Studio Pro. The only fix was to use the PC ripper 'SmartRipper'. I think they updated the other PC ripper to fix this also. This was my last post on the matter;
The last page of the thread is Here. I was just wondering if it was ever fixed. I haven't tried a DVD Studio Pro DVD yet.SmartRipper/DVD2one1.1.1 works with my 'Unencrypted' self authored movies. I'm still trying to understand why two programs (SmartRipper and DVD2one), can find encrypted data in files that were self authored and play fine in other programs that WILL NOT play encrypted data.
The one movie that I've had a chance to test SmartRipper/DVD2one with was authored as follows:
1) Movie was on VCR tape recorded from TV.
2) Movie was captured through VCR/Handycam/Computer into Final Cut Express.
3) Movie was edited with Final Cut, then exported to m2v and aiff files using QuickTime.
4) The aiff file was converted to ac3 using A.Pack.
5) The m2v and ac3 files were imported into DVD Studio Pro where chapters were made then exported in DVD format.
6) The VOBs were played with VLC and mPlayer.
None of the above programs will touch encrypted data.
The files (Video_TS folder) was loaded into DVD2one 1.1.1 for compression. DVD2one compressed everything up 'till 99% (which is the very last part of the last VOB) where it stopped and reported 'Encrypted Data'. I ran the files through SmartRipper and it reported finding 2 blocks (out of 2054037) of 'encrypted data'. I then ran DVD2one and it worked.
So, someone please explain to me how the other 4 Decrypters and all the other programs I used, did not find 'encrypted' data but SR and DVD2one did? And if you look at my earlier post, you'll see where I had tried two other DVD authoring programs with the same results as DVD Studio Pro. We may have found a way AROUND the problem, but, I wouldn't say it's FIXED.

Okay, I'll answer myself....
It hasn't been fixed. I just finished testing it, same as before. I created a DVD with DVD Studio Pro and fed it to DVD2oneX. At 99%, or at the very last 1/2 second of the movie, it stops and says, "DVD2oneX message, Encrypted Data detected, DVD2one can not decrypt protected data". This sucks.
Okay, I've already been through this once. DVDBackup and 0SEx will not fix it. I'm not even going to try, I've got work to do right now. The only fix last time was,
Then I tried to rip with Smartripper, key-check every vob file, and it got stuck, since it was not able to find a key. Then I changed to key-check once, and then I was able to rip the DVD, and I detected, that even the DVD was unencrypted, there where some encrypted blocks in the vobs. Then I tried to run it through DVD2One, and finally got rid of the encrypted error. So my advice is to rip it with Smartripper, "Key-check" set to "once".
Well this is good news, but strangely enough is was not the fault of DVD2one. The encryption detection routine worked flawless, it's the authors of those so call non encrypted discs that where to blame. -
KaiCherry mentioned yesterday that DVDBackup not only decrypts DVDs, but also adds something weird to the decrypted material. In your example, it is the decrypters that are to blame, and not DVD2one.
There is GNU dvdbackup software available ... Maybe you wanna try that. -
I got the same result on DVD files that I had built with DVD Studio Pro. I had assembled some extras together into a DVD that was about 4.6 GB, with the purpose of then squashing it to size with DVD2OneX.
DTOX gets to the end of the first VOB set and kicks out an "encrypted data found" message, ending the incomplete encode.
These files were still on my hard drive -- I hadn't burned them to disc -- so DVDBackup or OSeX aren't really an issue, I think, other than I used OSeX to pull the titles off the original disc. DTOX works just fine on those files "as is," fresh from OSeX. It seems to be post-DVDSP that it starts to hate the files.
I tried "ripping" the DVDSP files using DVDBackup, with no luck. I tried setting all the Macrovision/CSS/Region codes to ON in DVDSP, just to see if DVDBackup would then have something to actually turn off, and would work that way. No luck either.
Too bad, since it thought DTOX would be GREAT for creating custom discs this way... Will post something over on the DVD2One Forum and see what happens. -
I just want to add that this is NOT just a DVD Studio Pro problem. I had the same problem with Sizzle and ffmpegX. I was also checking the files from my HD, like schmeg, I didn't burn these to disc and they were NEVER TOUCHED by DVDBackup or OSeX. Look at my first post to see how the files were created. Also, check out the DVD titles from the thread in my first post. WE are going to have the SAME problem with those titles. No doubt other unknown DVD titles are going to have the SAME problems. The problem is that DVD2one checks a certain "FLAG" in the data, this is from the maker of DVD Decrypter;
So what are you guys saying is the fix?
You dont really have a clue why it happens do you?!
Well I've given it my best shot in the next version of my program. Ive made a couple of changes and basically, the 'im encrypted flag' that DVD2ONE seems to check for is now always zero'd out.
I cant see ANY reason why this new one should fail.
When I release it, please give it a go and let me know if the problem is still there, or if it has gone away.
As for the reading problems, there isnt much I can do about it if your drive just doesnt want to read a certain sector. SmartRipper might well carry on, but the fact of the matter is that hardware is hardware - if it cant read the sector, no software is going to make a difference. It just depends on whether or not it wants to tell you about it! As you probably all know, mine gives excellent error information when one occurs - if you choose to dismiss it then fine!
