Most of my DVD backups made with DVDDecrypter/DVD2one/Nero stutter/jump/pause (I did mention it in my prievious thread). But since then I've heard about program called ""DVDShrink""

I heard that its better than DVD2One and some people suggested that it works good burning with RecordNow Max/PrimoDVD (I USUALLY BURN USING LATEST NERO!!......)

IS RECORDNOWMAX/PRIMODVD as good as NERO to burn DVD Movies???
If so..will my stand alone DVD Player (PIONEER) play copies burn with RecordNow Max/PrimoDVD.

My Stand alone DVD Player plays well copies burn with: NERO DVD-ROM 1.02(UDF) Mode !!

But this mode doesn't work with other Home DVD Players..WHICH OTHER NERO BURNING OPTION SHOULD I TRY TO WORK WITH OTHER DVD PLAYERS??

How compatible is RecordNowMax/Primodvd with Home DVD Players??

I use those softwares to backup PS2 Games..and they work great on my Chipped PS2!..but if I try those softwares to copy a DVD Movie...what options do I use??

I hope some of you fine people can help me with that annoying problem.
I make great/working DVD movie copies using DVDXCopy to read the disc. and burn using DVDXCopy (NERO BURNING ENGINE), or NERO (If I want to get rid of DVDXCopy copy protection file...'cause DVDXCopy won't let you burn with this file missing!!! it ..but it takes two discs to copy most of todays movies......

ALL I WANT IS TO FIT DVD-9 TO ONE DVD-5 Disc without any picture problems while playing!!!.........and save some media!!

SO...IS IT WORTH TO TRY DVDSHRINK/RECORDNOWMAX/PRIMODVD

    PLEASE HELP..........BIGpol

  2. I have both DVD2One and DVDShrink, and have played around with both of them. My personal preference is DVD2One because you can fill up the DVD and get max quality, instead of having to chose one of their preset levels. With regards to the Nero bit, my DVD writer came with Nero Express, and so I just use the DVD-Video files option and I have had no compatibility issues with any standalones. Maybe I'm just lucky, but both compressing programs have worked just fine for me, I just prefer DVD2One, but if you're having picture problems, then maybe you should try another option, or maybe that's not the problem at all.

  3. I use Prassi Primo DVD to burn all my discs. Just use data mode, click add folder and browse to your VIDEO_TS folder where you put your output from DVD2ONE or whichever program you used and highlight the folder and click OK. Then click burn. So far has worked on every player I've tried with no compatibility problems. You did not mention which burner you have, Prassi is not compatible with Sony burners. I have never tried Record Now, but understand it uses the same burn engine as Prassi. Everyone has their own opinion in the DVD2ONE vs DVDShrink vs IC vs DVD95COPY battle. I have tried them all and I prefer DVD2ONE, but obviously something else may meet your individual needs better. You may run into an occasional disc that your favorite program cannot handle and have to use one of the others every once in a while.

I've been using both DVD+Copy and now DVDShrink for about a month. I have done over 20 movies and so far I've had perfect success with either one. With DVD x Copy I am forced ( for good reasons ) to use two disks for most longer movies and that's even after striping off any unwanted extras. Results using the native burn engine have been always perfect! Of course you cannot Re-Copy the Copy but WHY would you want to anyway? I've also been making backups with DVD Shrink and so far I LOVE IT!! Yes, I would love to be able to trascode ( if needed ) just the right amount to use the maximum space on a single DVD-R but actually, the stated "Target" size at a give amount of compression is ALWAYS overstated a bit. It seems to always end up at a bit less than the size indicated. You can strip off all sorts of extra junk such as other audio tracks in other languages as well as those annoying "Director's Comments" and Subtitles from the actual movie file. The result after this extra striping off of junk is either a file that completely fits in the "GREEN" or one that only needs minimal compression. I've compressed even to level 6 ( about 40% ) with pretty damn good result. At least it looks very good on my 27" Sony regular TV. I'm quite sure the nit pickers out there would see diferences in 48" HD TV setups. The audio ( I have a nice sorround sound system ) is superb.

I burn ALL files created during ripping and remapping by DVD Shrink to ONLY the TS_VIDEO folder in NERO. The TS_ AUDIO remains EMPTY!! I sinply use NERO's "Wizard" and choose DVD / Movie as my option, leaving everything else at the defaults. Of course, you need to select the correct drive for burning if you have both a CD-RW and DVD-RW drive. I open the TS_Video folder that will appear on the left side of the NERO interface and drag ALL of the files that DVD Shrink produced to it. It should be 8 with most DVDs depending of the # of .VOBs that are produced ( Usually 5 .VOBs ) Make sure they are ALL IN CAPS!!!! Click on burn and sit back and have a very large Coffee. Try to NOT use the computer while you are burning. I made one great Coaster that way. After retrying and this time leaving everything alone it came out perfect!
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  5. I would have to agree with cfBrown... It is you personal choice as to which program works best for you. I have just gone through a heck of a time trying to make The Matrix backup work without the jitters. After using DVD2One and DVDShrink (the latter needs more tweaking), I needed to use SmartRipper for The Matrix only (I couldn't begin to explain why!). I prefer DVD2One for everything else, after the initial rip.

As far as burning software, I prefer VERITAS' RecordNow DX, ver 4.56. It was a free downloadable upgrade that came with my Sony DRU-500A burner. I tried the latest Nero, but like my original better. Whatever I burn, I like to test in as many standalones as possible. But to each their own. You'll just have to play...

This is one huge experiment in the works One day, someone will come up with a "ONE-CLICK" solution to all of our copying (er, backup) needs, similar to 321 Studios DVDXCopy, without the rip-off price.

Good luck, and remember to use DVD+- RW disks to play with when trying something new Out of all the backups I've made, knock on wood, only one coaster, which was probably caused by something stupid I did.

    Thanx guys!!

I can see there're still debates between DVD2One & DVDShrink!!
I wish one day everybody will agree on one software which is the best of them all !! ...LOL..!!

Looks like DVD2One works well for most people, so maybe in my case the problem is with burning software (NERO) I like to use it, cause it works well on my stand alone player, and PS2!

COULD THE PIXELS/PAUSE/STUTTER problem be NERO??
BUT WHEN IM BURNING WITH DVDXCOPY/NERO... IT WORKS 100%
    ..........so LOL

I'll try DVDSHRINK with prassi PRIMODVD !!

THANX AGAIN..........AND KEEP SENDING UR OPINIONS!!

I totally agree. DVDShrink is on to something and has a ton of potential, but for now I still prefer DVD2ONE!

  8. anglik24,

I don't think Nero is causing the pixelation/stuttering. The same thing happened to me using RecordNow. But, for me anyway, I found my stuttering problem was right after I ripped the movie. I suggest you see how the rip came out (using PowerDVD, WinDVD, or the like). If you see the stuttering there, use a different ripper. That's what I had to do.
