  1. My question is in regards to how to upgrade my DVCR to be able to play VCDs on it. I know that there is upgrades that people can install into their DVD players to allow them to watch VCDs and I also know that most likely I'm going to have to bring it to a technician to install it. I'm just trying to find out what exactly I need to get done. Like, is there a certain type of hardware that I would need for this? Where might I be able to purchase this hardware (what stores, websites, etc.) that has good prices and/or quality products? Exactly what kind of technician should I be looking for in someting like the Yellow Pages? Things like that. So, if anyone can answer these questions and give any other information I'm looking for I would grately appreciate it. Thank you in advanced.

P.S. My DVCR player is a Broksonic DVCR-810. Thanks!

  2. I think your best bet would be to look up your DVCD player under the DVD players link on the left. I found some useful advice for my current DVD player to solve a few problems.

However, be careful, I tried an upgrade with an old DVD player from advice on the boards there and it ended up in the bin. Thankfully it was an old one and had been sitting in the loft for a while...

  3. Thanks for the advice Cole and I did what you said. For the most part there's not a lot of reviews or input on the DVCR and pretty much the only relevant thing to my inquiry that they confirmed is that it cannot play VCDs (which I am already aware of). But thank you anyways, all advice is welcomed and needed. If you don't mind me asking, how did you go about setting up your DVD upgrade? I know you didn't have much luck but just knowing how you went about it might help me. Thank you.

  4. I can't remember the details, but it involved removing the laser cartridge and adjusting the laser power screw. Very trial and error. I wouldn't advise it though, as I ended up snapping the said screw and the DVD player became useless. Thankfully, the DVD player was on the way out as it used to crash on DVD menus, so I didn't shed many tears over it.

Usually cheaper to by a good VCD/CD player like a cheap Apex 1100 or 1200 for $40. I did that.
I'm not online anymore. Ask BALDRICK, LORDSMURF or SATSTORM for help. PM's are ignored.
