    I tried updating my dru500a fw to 2.0e, but had to go back to 1.0g because I couldn't burn accu media at 2x. Does anyone know if this problem has been solved? Are there any other benefits in updating the firmware at this point if you only use the cheapo media.

    I don't know about any benefits but you won't be able to burn ACCU media at 2x if you upgrade. I tried it the other day and it doesn't allow burning at 2x after the upgrade. I went back to the old firmware.

    If your burner is fine right now, then NO! It's a bad idea to be an upgrade junkie on the DVD drives right now. Newest versions don't always help, and can in fact hurt.
