  2. Nothing inherently wrong with these enclosures, only thing is don't use them with USB 1.x ports, you will be handicapping the device, use them with a USB 2.0 port you have (if not buy a USB 2.0 Add-in PCI card). firewire version these enclosures should also work.

Supposedly USB 2.0 is equal in speed to Firewire, I've never compared them side by side so assuming they are equal.

  3. Actually USB 2 is supposed to be faster then Firewire. I'm using my Pioneer A03 in an External ADS/Pyro enclosure. My enclosure suppoerts either USB 2 or IEE-1394. I have had a few failed burns using the USB connection, but never had an issue using Firewire. I don't care that USB 2 is faster then Firewire. Firewire is much more stable and dependable IMO!!

    PS:
One downside is that Pioneer tells you that if you use an enclosure, not to do any firmware updates. You need to connect the drive to your actual IDE controller for them to work correctly.
Ok Ok Ok, I know I'm not as smart as all of you. But look how much smarter I make you look!
