    Hi- I recently started using DVD2ONE, and although I was a bit reluctant to try it at first (due to all the rumors of poor video quality), I must say that I am extremely happy with the quality DVD's it renders. Now instead of several hours spent demuxing, encoding and compiling, I simply rip the main movie files and run them through DVD2ONE. I'm assuming that those who speak poorly of this program are simply trying to retain too much of the original movie (special features, menus, ect...). I have compared the same movie made with CCE, TMPGEnc, and DVD2ONE, and honestly cannot say that any one program is better than another (at least when dealing with moderate sized videos, leaving out all extras). I have however encountered a small problem with DVD2ONE. When I view widescreen movies made with DVD2ONE, it seems that there is a small "bend" near the top edge of the picture, just left of center. It's not too obvious, and only seems apparent when looking at a straight vertical object (like a telephone/light pole, or door frame). The top tip of the object seems to curve ever so slightly to the right when it is in this place on the screen. I was just wandering if anyone else has experienced this oddity! THANKS!!!

  2. If you cant tell the difference between any of the transoding programs and CCE on longer movies then I suggest you make an appointment and get your eyes checked.

    @KungFuChow

    He didn't say longer movies. He said moderatly sized ones and not keeping the extras.

    @F-ING HOSTILE

    Have you examined your original source to see if it has the same bend? I wouldn't know how any program would introduce that kind of thing unless it was made to.

    In which case I agree with FING HOSTILE.

    I have done it the long and hard way, i have been doing it since many years ago (VCD) and now do DVD, and after using TMPGEnc, CCE, and DVD2One, I see no difference with movies below 1:45 w/o extras.

    except for REMPG (yuck)

  5. I agree, it sounds silly but double check the source. Every time I would see a noticeable flaw in a dvd2one processed movie, I would say "Ah HA! Then I would check the source dvd and there it would be. Maybe not as noticeable but still there.

    If you can't manage to comprehend a post as you read it...well you know where this is going On movies over 80min or so I always use CCE for encoding. For smaller movies there's no sense in waiting several hours for a project that DVD2ONE is more than capable of producing!

  7. I haven't seen that in any of the discs I have done. As for quality both DVD2one and DVdshrink are plenty good enough for me.

    Yeah guys, just like you I figured that DVD2ONE was simply duplicating an error in the original DVD, but the originals didn't have this quark. I have also noticed it in about every 2.35:1 or 1.85:1 widescreen movie I have copied, so I'm guessing it's some malfunction with the program. It's not a big deal by any means. It's just one of those little things you kind of notice when you are critically examining your final DVD. I just thought that mabye someone else might have come across the same thing
    Thanks a lot for the replys guys!!!!

    P.S. I guess I should have menbtioned earlier that I am using version 1.0.0

    Bob- How do you like DVDShrink? I got a chance to play around with it, but haven't burned anything yet. It seems pretty cool. From what people say you can keep all the disc content (on normal size movies) and just scale down all the contents but your main video, and make a pretty good full copy of your originals!

    I use DVDshrink more than I do DVD2one these days. I generally try to keep the compression level at level 3 so that means I have to sometimes reduce some extras to still pictures to free up valuable space but the end results are excellent IMO.

    It's possible your TV is the problem. Have you tried your DVDR on another TV? Did you see the problem with the origonal DVD? If so, some TV sets have a 'side pincushion' adjustment which will correct for this.

    Just a thought

    I never thought of that, although if that was the problem, then it would be consistent with every widescreen dvd I view (which is not the case). Never the less, I'll check it out. THANKS!!
