First of all pretty new to this process,
Ripped some DVDs using OSEx and converted with
Sizzle. I'm pretty sure they worked out fine, but
I want to make sure they're all good before I
start burning up my DVD-R's (man they're expensive).
When I rip with OSEx I get an M2V file and an AC3
file. I then set up with Sizzle and get the audio_ts and
video_ts folders. (Nothing in them but I assume that when
you burn the DVD it will use the linked files).
Do I need to do anything to make sure that the audio file is
in sync with the video? nothing more annoying than
watching a good movie that looks like it's been dubbed
like an old Kung-Fu one. And will this DVD-R play on
a stand alone DVD player? If not how can i get it to
do so?
Also one more:
I ripped a movie and it is like 6.6 GB. Is there any way I can
get it down to fit on a 4.4 GB? Or, how do I cut it in half and
burn half on 1 DVD and half on the other?
And is there anyway to add chapters?
Here is a list of the software I have:
OSEx, Sizzle, DVD SP 1.5, Roxio Toast

If there is nothing in the VIDEO_TS folder DO NOT BURN THAT DISC!!!
There should be one .ifo file and some .vob files in that folder. I'm not sure whats happening with sizzle, but maybe you should wait a few weeks untill dvd2one for the mac comes out. Sizzle should create the ifo and vob files, it doesn't link the m2v and ac3 files. Sizzle creates a dvd ready file arrangement.
DVD2ONE will reduce a disc to fit on one dvd-r, right now there is no real good solution for this on the mac.
Toast needs one folder for the disc title, and a VIDEO_TS folder inside the title folder for the dvd files... remember all folders should be in CAPS with an "_" where a space should be an example would be:
First folder: STAR_WARS
Folders inside that one: VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS
The AUDIO_TS is a redundant folder for Hi-Def Audio DVD's
Look on a standard DVD itself and you'll see what I mean.
Good Luck -
ok, treid another and i do have a bunch of files in the VIDEO_TS,
.ifo's, bup's, and vob's
but nothing in my AUDIO_TS -

(Sizzle-created files have some fits when fast-forwarding and reversing, but the sync should be what you can expect on the burned DVD.) -

Sizzle is a great tool for splitting discs if you don't need subtitles. You can rip individual chapters to elementary streams using OSeX -- including the audio tracks, or at least AC3...don't know about DTS etc. -- and load them all up in Sizzle.
Pros and cons: With Sizzle you can break your discs at a chapter point on the original disc. Usually, not always though, these are set at logical breaks in the action. With Disco+ the break comes when the first disc hits a certain file size, which can be in the middle of the big crucial scene....
Disco+ keeps all audio tracks; Sizzle includes only those you rip from the source disc.
Both are fairly easy to use -- Sizzle is a little more labor-intensive to assemble all the files (drag-n-drop some day??) but it's not hard. Disco+ is a breeze.
KaiCherry has announced the release of a new version of Disco+ "by week's end." Godspeed, Kai. Godspeed.

I dont know if this is true or not...........
But a friend of mine told me he contacted the makers of DVD2ONE(OSX) and they are expecting release in the next week!?!?
I HOPE THIS IS TRUE!
If it is, you should just wait until it comes out -

OK got it.
Burned the DVD and eveything is sweet,
except,
It formatted it as a widescreen movie (I think),
but the original was not. It's not horrible,
but you can definitely tell that the pictures
is a bit "stretched".
Does anyone know what I did wrong?
I think it may be the dimensions I used
in Sizzle?I used the default fromat?720x480 (NTSC D1).
Is that a widescreen format? If so what should it have been?
If not is it an OSEx mistake?
I appreciate all the quick responses to my post.
