My bedroom DVD player has died

I want a replacement that plays everything

I bought a Daewoo 5900 that worked OK but if I FF or skipped a chapter the audio went out of sync. This was unacceptable to my wife.

    She also wants a changer.

I've tried my home made DVD(+/-)R/RWs in a number of players and many play them, buy NOT ONE played SVCDs except very cheap low quality models....

    WHAT's the deal with THIS?!?!

Is there a name brand or a QUALITY cheapo brand that will satisfy all these needs?

    RECAP:
Quality - no picture or audio problems
Changer - no biggie, but it'd make the wife happy
    Plays EVERYTHING

Many of the JVC models play SVCDs. What exactly do you mean by EVERYTHING? PAL/NTSC playback? Hackable firmware? Be specific...

I have 2 Sonys DVP-NS315. Bought both for 100.00 at Best Buy/Circuit City. Also bought a new Panasonic DVD-S35 (Progressive Scan) 100.00. All play my back-up copies of DVD +R/+RW and DVD -R/-RW as well as SVCD and VCD. I use Verbatim, Maxwell and Fuji media on DVD. I sometimes use my WINDVDR program to burn directly to my DVD writer and it plays then fine as well. Search this site, get some input and when in doubt take some disks with you and try them out in the store. And if they don't have them hooked up on display, make them if they want a sell. Good luck in getting the one you want for the price you want to pay.
