  1. (1150x1.024)/8 + (224x1.024)/8 = 1177.6/8+229.376/8
    175.747
    175.747 * 60 = 10544.82
    700MB= 716.800
    67.98 minutes

    1) Standard VCD video bitrate is 1150kbps
    2) Standard audio is 224kbps
    3) I took those two number sand multiplied them both by 1.024 since 1000 is actually 1024. This explains line one, the sum being on line 2.
    4) I multiply this number by 60 to get a rate in minutes.
    5) My 700 MB blank CD is actually 716,800MB due to the 1024 thing I menioned earlier.
    6) I divided 716800 by 10.54482 and ended up with about 68 minutes.

    Is that right? It doesn't seen to match the other calcs I've seen (and yes, I've seen the explanation for manual calculation). What makes mine wrong?

    Probably because in actual fact a 700MB cdr can hold about 800MB of VCD...something to do with VCD not needing the error checking part of the cdr and so it can use all of the available data space..unlike data, which needs to use part of the cdr for error checking...something like that anyway!

  3. Anybody notice the bitrate viewer, if you use it on this site gives a different # than if you download it and open it offline. ISO file difference.
