I got this error message with WMP 10 and when I installed 11. The video will show the first screen then freeze. If I move the cursor along, it'll show a still shot of the movie at that time. The clips will work fine in Divx, but why won't it work in WMP?

Does it happen with all video files? or just some? if so what are the video/audio codec in those, identify with latest gspot.

And try google for the enumerator has become invalid, lots of hits...but not that many solutions though .

Just some. It has the xvid codec and this mp3 audio codec (0x0055(MP3) ID'd as MPEG-1 Lay).

I uninstalled WMP 11 and now it doesn't even do that anymore. It just says that WMP has encountered a problem... Also, when I click on the error report, part of the error sig says that the mod name is divxdec.ax Not sure if that means anything. I have that installed and the videos work fine on my DivX player.

    Any help would be great.

Personally, I would give up on WMP. There are unusual problems reported all the time here for that program. WMP seems to be problematic at times. Try using VLC or Media Player Classic and you may have better luck.

Or check with MS, they made it, maybe they can fix it.

Once wmp 11 get'a in , it's almost game over ... apart from a clean reinstall which would restore file's that had been replaced by wmp 11 .
Dont even try system restore after it get's in ... it wont replace the file's with the original's from wmp 10 .

But I'd ask if you have div6 codec's installed and / or ffdshow ???

I had divx6.4 , and it just screwed with everything else ... it's nolonger part of my kit .

Get rid of them , reboot and try once more ... xvid for xvid , not divx for xvid ...

I haven't installed any codec packs but how would I check? I have Super and Divx, so do any of those use that?

To play xvid encoded files you want xvid's decoder to handle them ... uninstall the divx , and install only the xvid package .
Then in the programs short cut from start , program's ... you'll find nic's avic under xvid , run it .

Load the problem avi , change both box's to xvid , and apply the change and see what happen's this time .

I had a funny issue with xvid before when opening in vdub and wmp ... I think I stuck with kopei's package , but it didnt entirely resolve the problem .

You could also check with http://paul.glagla.free.fr/filmerit_en.htm ... read the page , and reboot after repairs .

Oh God! I uninstalled Divx, ran a registry cleaner and rebooted and I'm SCREWED! My Norton won't start up and I can't go to any webpage on IE. When I tried to do a system restore in Safe Mode, it says that System Restore failed and I get the same messages about Norton not starting. What the hell am I gonna do now?!

When I look at the error report for the crashed programs, they all have something that says ccl30.dll. Does anyone know what that means?

I got my Windows features working again (WMP, IE, etc.). My System Restore has been fixed but I still have my original problem. Here it is in summary:

I have 2 computers and they all run fine on 1, but on the other one, they've been acting up for the past week and I don't recall installing anything new. Well I get this thing where the mpeg file (some, not all) just shows the first still shot and nothing else. If I his stop and try to re-play it, it says the "enumerator has become invalid"

Is there any way to un-install all the video codecs so that I can start from scratch and play th files on my WMP. I don't like Divx b/c you can't drag a group of files in to it and play it consecutively, and I don't like WMP Classic b/c it made my computer re-boot and it had the same problem my WMP had.

    What can/should I do?

    I'd be looking into ...

"When I look at the error report for the crashed programs, they all have something that says ccl30.dll. Does anyone know what that means?"

    Get a sticky at this : http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/trojan.lodav.c.html

You might have picked up a serious problem ... trojans and virus's dont always require user interaction to get to work ... just visiting website's is all it take's .

A good indication of the problem : "WMP Classic b/c it made my computer re-boot"

It may be the case , you should wipe the system out and reload the os as some do a lot of file renaming , generate hidden backups of themselves , and more .

As for registry cleaner's ... which one ... some will screw the system right up ... use erunt to back the registry up FIRST always .

    ===========

Might I suggest you download the latest avgfree onto the working pc , and update it , then scan to make sure the working pc dose not contain any hiding problem's ... remember to empty the virus vault's afterwards .

And forget norton ... in test's I have done ... it cant keep up with avg .
