First, I must apologize, no doubt, to the hordes of very knowledgable persons who frequent this forum for asking such a base question. However, I have indeed searched through this forum several times, gone through the tutorials listed for such purposes, and once even meditated, seeking video enlightenment. I failed to achieve enlightenment. All that said, I'll put it out there:

I want to back up my DVD's, and I can't. How do I do it?

    More explanation:
I have a number of region two DVDs, and a region one player. A friend of mine in the same circumstance had a method of burning DVDs that would remove the region encoding, rendering him with a useful copy. I do not have said friend on hand to ask.

What I have tried, and what has come of it:
I am using a newer MacBook, which unfortunately is not region free. For now, it suits my purposes to simply set it to region 2 and buy a standalone region free player some other time (perhaps this is my problem; I don't know). Anyway, I used MacTheRipper to create a file on my desktop (of a region 0 disc) and then I used DVD2One to take the file and burn it onto a disc. Worked wonderfully. However, when I try to do this with my (somewhat newer) Region 2 discs, MacTheRipper gives me some error message, and then DVD2One refuses to burn the disc.

So, my question, slightly modified, is this: How should I backup these region 2 DVDs on my MacBook?

Thanks in advance, from a neophyte.
