Hello guys,
I downloaded a torrent from Wild-bytes that should be the first disc of CSI season 1. It has 88 rar parts, i used stuffitx and i got a folder with these files:
CSI_DISC_01.I00
CSI_DISC_01.I01
CSI_DISC_01.I02
CSI_DISC_01.I03
CSI_DISC_01.I04
CSI_DISC_01.MDS
I tried to burn as a DVD Rom on Toast, but the result connnot be readen by my dvd player.
The folder size is 4.36 GB and the name is "CSI - Season 1 Disc 1.part001 Folder", the uploader said that he re-enconded the video with Shrink.
Any ideas to burn the dvd or is this a fake disc?
Cheers lads,
M.

Try using a different program to decode the rar files like macrar
The only way it would be a valid DVD folder is if it was a VIDEO_TS folder that was 4.36gb, shrink or dvd2onex would never make a folder that had those contents
I have seen this problem on the Mac as stuffit does not decode rar properly at times, there are several other programs that will though
This page should come in useful
http://codeccorner.com/usenethelp/MacRar.html
If you open UnrarX and then drag the main rar file into it (it will be the one of the 88 that just says .rar and has no numbers) it should find the rest and uncompress into one CSI folder that contains one big VIDEO_TS folder

It seems you need Windows software (DVDShrink, DVDdecryptor) to process these files.

Guys, guys, guys...
while I don't advocate Piracy, and their are other ways of legally obtaining the content
(CSI is in syndication now on TNT, last I looked),
to answer quickly, when I looked up MDS over at
Fileext.com
it said the files were most likely split archive files:
If the extension you are looking for has a number at the end or is only a number and there were no results consider entering the same extension format using zero or one as some programs produce numbered split files but when the split can be extensive (e.g., .000-.999) only the first entry is in the database.
that comes with Mac Par Deluxe? I would try to use that
to Concat ( join) the segments and see if it can decode
it back into a .bin file or even an .iso file.
if so, then burn with Toast.
Also, my friend, have you looked into possibly Amazon.co.uk?
Perhaps the version there has been mastered for the European
market with a wider range of subtitles?"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

what is a guy against the piracy doing in a forum like this when most of the times (not always of course), everything is about converting copyrighted material?
i don't understand why to bug other people when you can live your "legal life" and letting other live theirs.... (even if it is illegal)
-
One of the legitimate uses of this forum is to help people exercise their fair use rights where they have them (for example, here in the United States). Making a copy of a commercial disc you already own is an example of fair use, despite what the Digital Millennium Copyright Act says. Trying to unstuff and reassemble a copied DVD you downloaded somewhere off the internet that you're too bothered to purchase legitimately because you live in Chile and want what you want when you want it is not fair use, its piracy.

@Manolo - I checked out the torrent in question. UnRarX will work just fine for you. It's a standard torrent release like all the rest. And if it doesn't, ask the uploader what file type he rar'd, such as VIDEO_TS folder or .ISO file.
Being a VIP there, you should understand what MD5 (not MDS as you typed) files are. Oh, and I'd be a little hesitant to spell out torrent site names on public forums such as this. Teh owner does not like this and you know that they closed their doors for a reason
@markatisu - MacRAR is OS 9 only. Manolo is on OS X.
@case - One NEVER needs Win software with torrent files.
For the other silly comments re: piracy. I'm from Isla De Muerte.

@ macsyrinx:
I'd still reccomend MacPar Deluxe over UnRARX,
simply becasue the Split and Concat subset tools
intergrate well with it, and can handle Concatted
ISO's. Plus, I hate the UNRAR's lack of GUI... :P .
and your from "an isle of the dead what cannot be found,
except for those who already know where it is"...?
sucks to be you.
:P"Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

LMAO@ricky1756!!!!
@terryj - MacPar Deluxe is a more rounded app, I agree. However, judging from the original poster's question, his lack of knowledge of MD5's, his usage on the website in question, as well as my usage of these websites in question, UnRarX would be more his speed in my opinion.
Oh, and your wikipedia translation of Isla De Muerte......OMG how funny! It's in my irc rooms already and we're loving it. Thanks!
