hello,
I have heard that Windows VISTA makes it difficult (or impossible) to copy / burn movie DVDs - even with the Slysoft DVD copying software.
I heard that it is best to keep Microsoft XP on your computer because it is friendly to movie DVD copying.
Is this true?
I want to get the VISTA 64 bit operating system.

It's completely false. I have Vista Ultimate and have absolutely no problems whatsoever backing up my DVD's or Blu-Ray's for that matter. Whoever said or told you that probably just hates Vista for some odd reason. It really isn't that bad as people say, but it does require a bit of configuration out of the box to get it running well.

Agree that is false. My wife's laptop has vista on it and it can rip and encode a dvd just as well as my xp machine.

Another falsehood.
I have anydvdhd and vista premium 32bit and can rip anything I want. I can even rip bluray and hd-dvd since its the hd version.
Standard dvds are a go too.
Don't fear Vista!
However you may want to wait for windows 7 if your that fearful of Vista.
But trust me vista isn't as evil or tyrannical as the rumors you seem to have heard.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
This is FUD. It is not difficult at all.
Believing yourself to be secure only takes one cracker to dispel your belief.
