When I tried to encode some mpeg2 or dvd videos to other format ps3, psp etc, it says there is no YV12 encoder installed, and I have tried to install the decoder but all to no avail. Please help.
Cheers

install divx codec (or real video yv12 decoder)
make sure to disable your antivirus when installing it (could prevent registry changes)

Thanks a lot for that, works fine now, however i still have another problem with encoding MKV files, I always get an error the message I get is "wMultOf must be zero"
thanks in advance. -
Hi Buzz.
Glad you got it working. As buzzqw pointed out, to display/render YV12 all you need is the DivX codec (or special decoder). And it would also work with the Xvid codec as well. All are very fast with colorspace conversions. I posted also to warn never to install any of those codec packs that may mislead you into better "universal playback" (in case you ever reformat your hard drive and start over or in case someone else is reading this). When I tried to encode some mpeg2 or dvd videos to other format ps3, psp etc, it says there is no YV12 encoder installed, and I have tried to install the decoder but all to no avail. Can you give us a bit more info? Are trying to encode from MKV or to MKV? Also keep in mind, MKV is only a container - it can host many different video/audio formats inside. What exactly are you trying to do? Do you get this for all conversions or just those of one type? Thanks a lot for that, works fine now, however i still have another problem with encoding MKV files, I always get an error the message I get is "wMultOf must be zero"
Longshot: could it be the resolution you want to encode to is illegal for that device/format?I hate VHS. I always did. -
Anytime I've had trouble with XVID4PSP I just re-install ffdshow (using whatever version is current at the time) and that seems to fix it up.
Of course I'm always installing other (usually video releated) programs that I think must affect ffdshow somehow. I guess re-installing it fixes it.
1.) Re-install ffdshow
2.) Re-install XVID4PSP
3.) Reboot
4.) Try again
5.) Should work now (fingers crossed)

thanks for all your reply, actually what am trying to do is, I have some vob and mp4 files which I muxed from MKvs, but now I want to convert them all to psp format Anamorphic 480x272, but when I open the file using Xvid4psp, after caching the file it comes up with the error saying, "wMultOf must be zero". I have tried to load original MKV files but with the same result.

Did you do what I suggested above?
Do you have Haali Media Splitter installed?

Well you don't have something set up correctly. Maybe too many other codecs. A lot of time a multitude of codecs can screw things up.
Often the only way to fix that is to re-install just want you need but if that doesn't work ... it often means re-installing Windows so as to get a fresh clean start.
