Has anyone had any experience with this model?
Im looking for a player that will play divx files and has usb capabilities

It's a great player. I tested it against the Philips DVP5982, both played DivX/XviD with no problems via disk or usb, however I like the UI via USB of the Philips over the Pioneer.

I've emailed Pioneer inquiring about it on Sept 2 - no reply yet. (to be fair it was a holiday weekend here...)

No one - not even Pioneer evidently -could answer my question.
I went ahead and purchased it locally so it would be easier to return if it didn't suit my needs even though the price was a little bit more than ordering on line.

Pros so far:

Yes! It can play AVIs w/packed bitstream and VBR audio right out of the box
AND not only that but XviDs that always caused the Philips 642 to display trippy colors was no problem for the Pioneer. AND it can handle the DVDR+DLs (ISO>ISO, Verbatim) pretty smoothly, even ones that the 642 use to stutter on or wouldn't play at all. 8)

I hooked up a USB thumb drive just to give that a quick test (must choose USB mode on the remote) and played an MP3 - that worked fine.
I haven't tested the USB part for anything else yet but there is a thread starting here where others are:

Has an actual Open/Close button on the remote as opposed to the secret "press and hold stop" trick on the Philips remote.

Cons so far:

Because of the design of the remote, I sometimes find myself aiming it the wrong way

Pause, Stop, FF ect are not clearly marked on the remote.
Other buttons such as Menu, Audio, Subtitle, Angle, USB ect are clearly marked.

Can't display long file names. The 642 couldn't fully display long file names either but this player seems even more limited in this area.

After inserting a DVD+R containing AVIs, the menu button has to be pressed in order to choose a file and play. At this time I haven't been able to play with it enough to find out if you can configure it to just start playing automatically like the 642 could.

Only comes with regular red, white and yellow cords (the 642 also supplied an orange digital audio cable) but that was no problem for me since this is in a bedroom hooked up to an old 4:3 TV and a cheap Walmart special surround sound system. (I used the orange cord from the 642 for the audio).

A personal con for me is that I prefer silver but I could only find it available in black.
