softwares:
avisynth 2.5
virtualdub mod 1.5.10.2
canopus procoder2
virtualvcr (latest version): yuy2 ,720x480, codec huffyuv(predict left)
capture card:terratec cynergy 250 pci
player: JVC s-vhs hr-s8600ms (secam,pal |>pal60htz) / tbc on /digital3R on/copy mode on/s-video ouput
sources: vhs(bought),used,good condition, ntsc, release year: 1993(sample1) 2001(sample2)
1: once the video is edited with vdubmod i frameserve to procoder (rename .vdr in .avs)
2: I encode with procoder2,mastering quality(always!),7800kps(always)
additional infos:
vdubmod filters used:
1-chroma noise reduction(default mode)
2-msu denoiser (hard mode, temporal =no or very low because i had too many probs with this)
3-HVS(depending if the video need it but generally i don't do any correction)
4-resize (lanczos3)
5-msu deblocking(high quality mode)(,careful with this 1 since "sometimes" i noticed problems)
I always use these filters and settings for vhs in good condition
Well tell me what you think
Maybe try this method yourself first, i'll be interested in any major improvement.... if one can be done.
Last but not least:
SAMPLE 1(13MB)
SAMPLE 2(12mb)

Can't say I care for the content, but the quality looks fine to me (and I am picky, as most folks here would attest to). I'd give you an A+ on it.

Opinion #1: It's great considering it came from VHS tape. I don't know how much better you can expect to get from VHS.
Opinion #2: I don't like rap music. -
Very well done on both. Good color saturation. Good choice keeping them interlaced. Your encodes must take days to complete.
sample.mpg = off da hook!
sample2.mpg = blazin! -
Well that don't take a lot of time really but i got a 3ghz processor(multi threading)
4 min of video takes 35 min to encode (more or less)*** DIGITIZING VHS / ANALOG VIDEOS SINCE 2001**** GEAR: JVC HR-S7700MS, TOSHIBA V733EF AND MORE
