Has anyone noticed any significant difference on Verbatim DL media when recording at different speeds? It can be recorded from 2.4X up to 8X. I tend to be conservative with burn speeds. I burn single layer DVD-R media at 6X but I don't have a good feeling for the "best" speed on DL media and I don't want to burn a bunch of DL media just to test the difference.

I've never gotten perfect results consistently when going higher than 4x.

Given the choice of 2.4X versus 4X burning speed, do you think there is any significant difference? When I burn a DL disc, the recording time difference is not an issue. I start the burn and go away and leave the computer alone. I just want to record at the optimum speed.

  4. I just started using Verbatim DL disks recently. I waited because I saw so many reports here at Videohelp.com that said many DVD players would not work with DL +R disks. So I burned some Verbatim disks at 2.4x, and so far they have played just fine in five out of five players I have tried them in.

My writer does not support faster speeds with them.

I don't like to let a laser operate for that long while burning. I prefer to let it stop after 30 minutes.
