There hasn't been a whole lot of talk about the Primera Tuffcoat DVD's for awhile, but based on this thread here https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=297048&highlight=tuffcoat+media (and coupled with my need for smudge and water resistant inkjet DVD's) I figured I'd give them a try. Unfortunately, they now seem to be using CMC discs. From DVD Identifier:

    Unique Disc Identifier : [DVD-R:CMC MAG. AE1]

Many reputable manufacturers relabel CMC disks. They might actually be the most widely distributed.

Some DVDwriters have no problems with them. I get under 1% coasters.

If you need capabilities only available to you with CMC media, there are inexpensive drives you can use to get good results. These include Renassas chipset based LG drives.

I think I'll get a test batch of these too http://www.rima.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=R&Product_Code=1778-5...ory_Code=DMRTY

I would hope that Taiyo Yuden isn't using CMC discs

  4. If those are top grade AE1's then most burners should do quite well. I'd take 8x CMC MAG AE1 or E01 anyday in comparison to their 16x counterparts (AM3 - M01).

.....and yes TY is still TY.

  5. Hey I switched from the Primera ones and have been using the TY with water shield since they came out they coded tyg03 not cmc. I havent had any problems with them. differences is

    Primera Aquaguard
8x, Fuji coded Can print all the way to the edge and matte finish

    TY Watershield
16x. TYG03 coded, The outer edge has about a 1/2 to 1 mm border that you cant print on. If you do the ink will come out that border only, Glossy

You pay a little more as you only get packs of 50 but i havent look back since
