Good evening,

I’m running into a problem again today. I hope you can help me.

I have the StreamFab program (current version) and am trying to download a video from Magenta TV. However, it fails every time right at the end with a "Failed" error.

Is there a way to manually obtain the MPD file and the keys? I’d like to try my luck using yt-dlp, mp4decrypt, and ffmpeg.
In older versions of StreamFab, you could see the keys and the MPD file in File Explorer, but that’s no longer possible.

You'll have better luck using N_m3u8DL-RE, alongside shaka-packager and mkvmerge.exe

I already had WidevineProxy2 installed in Firefox. However, I deleted it and installed a (new?!) version.

I was able to start the video, but it cut off immediately.

This is exactly how the Extension works.

If the Video does not play, everything is fine.

Now you have the MPD URL and the Keys to download the Video.

Or you can simply use the Command.

I read the first link and followed the instructions exactly as described.
What did I do wrong? Why can't I watch the video?
I also tried manually downloading the video using `yt-dlp -o enc.mp4 --allow-u MPD-URL` and decrypting it with `mp4decrypt` and the keys I found. The video still won't play.

What is the EME-Logger all about?
And what is an interception function?



Which command should I use? N_m3u8DL-R... maybe? I already tried that one. The video doesn't play.

If you're in this Scene, you should have some Idea of the Basics.

Otherwise you should just keep using StreamFab.

The video downloads and plays with the link you got from WidevineProxy2. (I chose however not to download the highest available bitrate version.)

As it is a ARD production: maybe it is available from the ARD Mediathek as well? Look at https://mediathekviewweb.de/ - their videos are not encrypted.

Well, what I want is actually quite simple. I used the command from WidevineProxy2.
The video downloaded, but I can't play it in VLC, mpv Media Player, or the Videos app.

So, I assume something went wrong during the download or decryption process—though I don't know what.
Could the MPD or keys be incorrect? Or could it be an issue with the WVD file?

The ARD Mediathek works fine, but that was just an example; the issue is with Magenta.tv. Other videos aren't working either.

And no, StreamFab can't successfully download the videos either.

Try to download a lower quality yourself to see if your process is functioning correctly. (Merge, decrypt, mux)

Exactly, you can download Videos from Magenta.tv just in a maximum of 720p.

For 1080p or 2160p Quality you need L1.

And the Keys for Decrypting the Video and the Audio are different.

Not one Key for both.

I selected a lower resolution, and then it suddenly worked. But why doesn't it work at the highest resolution?

Could it be that mp4decrypt wasn't able to decrypt it?
Would it work better with shaka...? Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with the syntax for that.

Not true. WP2 uses a cdm you nominate and give the path to in your settings.

And if you have a L1 cdm - WP2 will work with it.

The issue for you is WP2 is not going to fetch 4K manifests from a browser.

You need to be looking at unshackle or custom versions of vinetrimmer which use service scripts derived from android devices and tv's.

If I select a maximum resolution of 720p, the video works.
Where do I get the keys for Full HD? WP2 doesn't provide Full HD keys?!
