How do I get yt-dlp to download videos in mp4 or other video file formats?

  2. You find a YouTube video url and you launch yt-dlp.

    Type the following:

    yt-dlp -F video url
    press enter
you will see a list of resolutions
For a test 360p video you could type the following:

    yt-dlp -f "18" video url
    press enter
After the download is finished check your folder and test the video.

  7. How to download Playlists:

Just find the url for the Playlist and use the -F command to displays resolutions as you do a single file. Then decide on your resolution and do as you did for a single file. There are other options and you need to read what you can at the yt-dlp Github page which you can find a link to going to the Tool Section here and finding YT-DLP and chose "visit develper's website".

You need to practice and keep a document of things you learn. Some things you eventually memorize but I find it good to have a word document as I copy and paste a fair bit into yt-dlp

Have you had success on a single file yet? There is more things to learn about selecting resolutions but you need to master some basics and please give us a progress report.
