I installed MKVcleaver 64bit and Downloaded the latest version of MkvToolNix 64bit Portable but I could not get MKV cleaver to work. My output folder had zero files in it and no errors messages.

I figured there was a problem with MkvToolNix portable so I downloaded the latest 64bit installer (all the files I downloaded I got from here) and tried again but had no luck.

This time I got error messages concerning dlls.

When I picked the folder where the files were supposed to be created by the MKVcleaver program, it didn't show any files in the folder. I don't know if that is normal or it couldn't see the files that were there.

I checked the programs in the MkvToolNix folder and they told me I was missing dlls and needed to redownload the program (a 3rd time).

Here are the errors I got from MKVcleaver and the programs in MkvToolNix.

The Procedure entry point GetCurrentPackageFullName could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.

Could not get any information from Mkvmerge.exe

Download and install the latest version on MkvToolNix.

Errors were encountered while extracting tracks.

    See the log for details.

mkvtoolnix-gui can;t start because d3d12;dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix the problem.

    mkvmerge.exe
The Procedure entry point GetCurrentPackageFullName could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.

    mkvextract.exe
The Procedure entry point GetCurrentPackageFullName could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNAL32.dll.

I have no idea where the log files are at in MKVcleaver.

The latest versions of mkvtoolnix runs only on Windows 10 and newer.
There's a thread around here somewhere, one of the forum members produced
and unofficial version of the latest releases that will work on the older
    OS.

I just installed mkvtoolnix-64-bit-67.0.0-revision-000-67.0.0-setup which is supposed to work on Windows 7 64bit and MKVcleaver_x64_v0701 which was said to be the last version to work on Windows 7 (2012?) but still doesn't work.

MKVcleaver says that it could not get any information from mkvmerge.exe - to install the latest version of MkvToolNix (which doesn't work).

I looked at the log file and it says that it finished extracting the first file from my input folder but nothing is in my output folder.

I'll try searching again for the thread you mentioned above.

  4. What works for me on Win7 x64:
    - install MkvToolNix 66.0.0 x86/32bit. I think this one is the last original version working on Win7. x86/32bit because not all extractor programs have/had x64 version.
    - download non-official mod by autodidact from: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/405407-NON-OFFICIAL-Windows-builds-of-MKVtoolnix
    at the moment it's 80.0.0 here: https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/405407-NON-OFFICIAL-Windows-builds-of-MKVtoolnix/p...e6#post2710594.
    - unpack it and drop the files in the MkvToolNix installation folder
    - to extract files from mkv use:
    gMKVExtractGUI ( https://www.videohelp.com/software/gMKVExtractGUI )
    or
    Inviska MKV Extract ( https://www.videohelp.com/software/Inviska-MKV-Extract )

There's also ccMKVExtractGUI ( https://cudacoder.com/ccmkvextractgui.php ), but only for Win10 and 11. On Win7 it thows at me an error with api-ms-win-core-synch-l1-2-0.dll

PS. Are you sure your file is a real mkv and not something else with manually changed container extension to mkv?

Thanks for the links. I'll give them a try.

Yes, I created the MKVs using avidemux.

I've been trying to batch save the videos into AVI containers so I can use them in a program that only accepts AVI videos. I've tried a bunch of ffmpeg bat files and I've tried FFMPEG Batch AV Converter and it refuses to produce the files. Obviously, ffmpeg does not support muxing mkv into avi.

I also was able to create MKVs using FFMPEG Batch but it could not read the files it created or mux them to AVI.

All of these files play in MPC-HC and I can open the files in Virtualdub and avidemux to convert them to AVI but I was hoping to batch mux them since I have a whole lot of these videos to convert.

So I replace all the exe files in the MkvToolNix 66.0.0 with the exe files in the 69.0.0-Qt5 folder and use gMKVExtractGUI instead of MKVcleaver?

I used both gMKVExtractGUI and MKVcleaver and liked the output of MKVcleaver better.

.h264 files with .mp3 files or just .h264 files with videos without audio from MKVcleaver compared to .avc, .mp3 and .txt files with super long file names with gMKVExtractGUI.

Now how do I mux them into an avi file?

The tutorial video I'm trying to use to convert mkv to avi says to use mkvmerge GUI to mux the resulting files into an avi container but I cannot find mkvmerge GUI anywhere. I find plenty of links but there is no mkvmerge GUI.

you're going around in circles. MKVToolnix GUI is the common gui for for mkvmerge. I don't think it muxes to AVI, MKV only

Alright, I found an option to save as avi in MKVcleaver. It saves the avi files, the mp3 files and the h264 files separately. Now I just need a way to batch mux the AVIs with the mp3s. I don't need the h264 files.

A few of my MKVs have no audio so those AVIs are fine.

The guy on the tutorial video was using mkvmerge GUI v5.6.0 (Kenya Kane) which has an option to mux the video and audio files to AVI.

Hopefully I can find someone who can come up with a batch file to mux the files in the folder together or maybe

another alternative for extracting elements from a MKV file is Inviska MKV Extract. Looks better than MKVCleaver IMO and works really well. Doesn't do AVi's however
