  1. Hi all,

    Very basic question that has me stumped, trying to trim a clip using:

    clip=AVISource("Capture 1.avi")

    trimclip=trim(clip, 37, 139747)

    trimclip
    On VirtualDub2 I open the AVS file, then make sure

    Video -> Direct Stream Copy
    Audio -> Direct Stream Copy

    Then File -> Save Video

    VirtualDub projects the file to be 111.5 GB, the original file size is 41.6 GB, here is the MediaInfo for the original

    What am I missing?

    EDIT

    Just did a check of the codec for a small sample of the Trim'd clip, it is a different codec. It appears the Huffuv that I have on my old Windows 7 laptop is different to the Windows 10 PC I am doing my work on.

    Virtual Dub 2 - Huffyuv v2.1.1

    Capture - Virtual Dub 1.9.x - Huffyuv V2.1.1 - CCESP Patch V0.2.2

    Is this my problem? How do I get VirtualDub 2 to work with the correct Codec, I want to avoid re-doing my captures.

    You can't use Avisynth for this because it always uncompresses the video and frameservers those frames
    to the host app.
    Open the video in Avidemux, trim it and save it from there

  3. The Huffyuv codecs are basically the same. You won't need the CCESP Patch, but it does no harm either. I would just leave as is.

    Btw. How did your other experiment with the graph work out?

    Or just trim it in either of the VDubs.

    Understood, what about when I do want to run a script and keep the output lossless Huffyuv? Do I use full processing mode and select Huffyuv as the video compression?

    Phew, thanks for clarifying that - was worried I would have to go messing with codecs again!

    I need to play around a bit more with Graphstudio, but going to use what you shared and see how I go
