  1. I have a hard coded subtitle from TS sourceformate encoded to MKV simply done in Handbrake. Is there a way to encode that TS container without what appears to be the burned in subtitle?

  2. The snip below shows some detail I found that is relevant.
Yes there were origianl SRT subs for the lauguages shown. But they will not display properly since they overlay
the imbedded English subtitle. From the notes shown, that must be the DVB . Since there is an English SRT as well the goal is to
remove the embedded English sub from the media.

I'll see if I can copy in the whole MediaInfo.

  3. As a workaround I saw in Handbrake that the forced sub default showed burned in checked. I'm trying a new recode with it unchecked.

Won't work since the video's burned in subs are permanent and that setting just stops the subs being burned in again.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

  5. It could be I have misstated the exact problem. But in a brief spot inspection of the content of the recode from TS to M4V, the sub seen earlier is no longer there. Now I just have to confirm that the EN sub and other languages from the SRT group lines up with the play etc.

If you still have the original TS file just drop it into mkvtoolnix and untick stuff you don't need and add in any extra tracks you need. Then hit multiplex. You will have a mkv file in minutes. If you want you could then extract the srt sub using Inviska MKV Extract or similar to have a standalone srt file.

That was one of the first things I tried. Nothing showed up. Nor did anything show up in the related tool for 'Nix called Inviska
which I use regularly to prepare SRTs from .. can't think of the acronym.. what Subtitle Edit converts with Tesseract. It'll come to me after I close this.

The only thing that showed anything for subs was that load of Handbrake so I unchecked the only "burn in" box it showed and
that has seemed to remove the embedded sub format. Indeed it might have been something I did, there's always that possibility. I have to do some checks on it to load all the subs again.

If you don't have it get hold of TSDoctor it will show everything. The trial version is fully operational for 30 days the last time I looked.

By the way. I wish that performance of Alban Berg's Wozzeck had been released in Sydney! Just did a bit of digging and found that it was a co-production of the Metropolitan Opera; Salzburg Festival; the Canadian Opera Company, Toronto; and Opera Australia Must check again.

  10. Thanks I'll sample the TS program.

  11. I have installed TSDoctor and I know there's a tutorial. The feature I wanted to use I couldn't locate. I guess I'm poor at reading software layout. None of it makes any sense but I did get the player to work.

In the TS file load I see a subtitle I want to extract. If you can give the steps for that it would be a start. All I did was drag and drop the TS into TSDoctor. It seems to have a lot of features I don't know how to unlock.

  13. Hello again,

Yes I got TS Doctor on your previous note. Please give instructions on how to do the extraction. I can load the program well enough and see the various subtitles on it's screen. Clicking on doesn't seem to activate anything. It'll take me a while to do a screen shot. I haven't loaded the program for a while.
