I searched the board and could not find this topic in particular, the closest was a thread from 12 years ago that wasn't any help. If this has been answered elsewhere, please link and let me know. I apologize if this is an annoying repeat question.
I'm trying to record video tapes to digital and the video works fine, the software is easy enough to use and I like the results. However, the audio steadily goes more and more out of synch as the time goes along and I cannot find any way to lock audio to video.
I recorded a DVD successfully and played it on my home theater system, and the sound was great in terms of quality and it took advantage of the home theater speakers; the video was fine for a 20 year old video tape, but the audio at about the 1 minute mark was a second off and getting worse.
I've tried AVI format, is there any way you can help me out?

What capture software? Are you capturing directly to MPEG for DVD? - My sister Ann's brother

I'm using the EZ Grabber software that came with the VC 500 one touch unit. I tried Mpeg but the video wasn't capturing so I went to AVI on the advise of someone online and it worked great, other than the loss of audio synch

JVRaines suggests AmaRecTV for AV sync. Don't bother installing their codec. Install and use a free lossless codec like Ut Video and don't capture uncompressed. AmaRecTV's interface is not what I would call intuitive, so hopefully you can find a good guide.

I don't like that it failed to notify me of dropped frames with the one piece of hardware I tested, but for your purposes that probably doesn't matter if it maintains sync.
