Best output format in pinnacle studio

Hi

I have a sony full hd AVCHD camera and i record movies in 1080p 50 frames/s.
For editing i use pinnacle studio, but i don't know which is the best output format for my edited video, with a less as possible quality lost for final edited video.
Should i chose for output a MTS stream with a custom settings with 2ch audio 256kbs dolby digital or PCM and which value should i chose for maximum peak bit rate, maybe 30MBit/s. And for image quality should i choose best quality instead balanced?
I only would like to get out best quality as possible to be able to play on a TV or PC, will not make any blue rays or something.

Hi wellerus, welcome to the forum! The "best" output format of your video is likely the same format at the input video i.e. AVCHD. I don't use pinnacle studio, but hopefully it is capable of smart rendering which means it will only re-encode the portions that need re-encoding and leaving the other portions untouched. This will minimize the lossy process of re-encoding your video, which is the case no matter what final format you choose.

I doubt smart render was added recently to Pinnacle. In that case you just need to guess bitrate that is good enough where increasing that value would have a marginal improvement.

It depends on source video how it was shot. Using AVCHD and latest consumer camcorders, perhaps 2pass VBR and 30Mbits/s is more than enough. That is just a guess. You might be happy using 20 Mbit/s as well saving 1/3 volume. It is really subjective, so you must try it yourself, take a representative sample and try it.
