Hi,
Does anyone know how to convert .MTS files from a Sony HDR-PJ530E (50fps - 1920x1080) to an editable format for Premiere CS5 (Mac) ?
Thank you so much

Try importing the entire PRIVATE folder, not simply the individual files.
Make sure your OS can handle the version of Premiere you're using.
There were known problems handling those files on macs pre-CS6, though 10.58 Leopard and CS5 worked sometimes. -
Welcome to the forums.
Just a thought:
Since you are on a Mac, I would think the preferred workflow would be to transcode any file, including MTS, to a ProRes MOV for editing. ffmpeg has a hacked but decent ProRes encoder that I use all the time to transcode MTS/M2TS files on the PC, but even then it requires frameserving to ensure I don't end up with audio sync issues. However, since the Mac is a closed system, you might need to spend $50 or $100 on some transcode utility. That might be a wise investment if you are doing a lot of editing. PP CS5 is a serious editor, so I suspect you fall into this category. Thus, if you are planning to do more than just simple cuts and fades on the MTS, then you really should transcode it.
