Hi,
Looking for advice on a video editing technique. I've done a little video editing but by all means I am a rook, thanks for the help.
I'd like to use a cut-out of a persons face over an existing video. For example, picture an existing video with people in it - I want to use a cut-out of another persons face to track one of the faces in the exisiting video.
1) Software recommendation?
2) How to? Is there a tracking function, or will I have to manually input the motion of the still face to track the face in the video? Either way is alright, I'm just looking for the best method to achieve this effect.
If this isn't clear let me know and I'll try to find an example or explain in more detail.
Thanks again.

1) after effects for a 2D overlay in 1 plane (eg a frontal shot)
2) Yes, there are several types of trackers in AE, including a face tracker, and mask tracker, and point tracker (and a planar tracker that comes with mocha, bunlded with AE). Which one you would use depends on the shot specifics, the type of shot. You basically "link" your overlay to the tracking data
Plenty of free tutorials on youtube and similar sites on how to do this -
Aviutl can also do it and it's free. https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/366724-Aviutl-Tips-Tricks-and-Support-thread
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........
