It is easy to get confused about all of this. I am talking about desktops versus laptops, tablets, etc. which all basically do the same thing. If you want to make an analogy to your Plasma TV, go right ahead. But at least get it right:

    Me: The Plasma is dead.
You: No it's not. I own a Plasma.
    Me: So?
You: So, people still buy TVs.
Me: Never said people people don't buy TVs anymore.

Are you so delusional you can even pretend something wasn't written when you wrote it yourself?

Even you must know how ridiculous your argument has become. You're talking about desktops verses portable devices. I'm talking about TVs. Plasma, LCD, OLED, CRT..... I'm talking about TVs.

I didn't specifically ask about Plasmas, I mentioned I own one..... as it turns out foolishly, because it gave you a red herring opportunity instead of discussing the subject like a grown-up..... when I asked why not replacing TVs regularly doesn't mean the TV is dead like the desktop. Naturally though..... in an imaginary conversation I assume must make sense in your head no matter how ridiculous it sounds when you write it down.... you're trying to use it as an excuse to avoid the topic.

You: The desktop is dead because people don't replace them enough.
Me: People replace TVs less often yet TV manufacturers survive.
You: I never said people people don't buy TVs anymore.
Me: I never said you did, but people replace TVs less often yet TV manufacturers survive.
    You: You own a Plasma.
Me: And yet TVs are still manufactured.
You: I'm trying to pretend a Plasma isn't a TV.
Me: It's making you look very silly.
You: If you want to make an analogy to your computer....
    Me: Yes, I'm waiting......

Will you continue to avoid discussing the subject of desktops being upgradable, and manufacturers selling components even if people don't upgrade their whole PC regularly, or are you "bum up, head in the sand" on that one too?

No, but that was never its purpose. Its only purpose was to entertain SameSelf.

Yeah, Windows is a sophisticated OS.

Dont confuse enterprise software with FB or Twitter. The future of PC is in Tablets. Thats why im posting here on a surface 4 tablet.

Be careful. You are going to be accused of trolling if someone thinks you prefer posting here on your surface 4 tablet vs a desktop PC with a fullsize keyboard and 27" monitor.

Posted using my phone and thumbs

Ha, I recognize that quote. Samuel Clemens (Mark Twain).

Has this thread run its course yet?

    No.....
First you must dismiss everyone else's opinion as "personal use scenario", and after you've ignored the 90% of the remaining discussion because it doesn't suit you, if you follow that with your own personal use example of posting to the forum with a portable device, others will naturally wonder if you've given up and you're just trolling your own thread.

  10. It is taking longer than it should but eventually the desktop or tower PC will suffer the same fate as disco.

Maybe when we have something similar to the Predators's technology...

and because their society is clearly of the aristocratic type, I serious doubt their technology is compatible with a decadent and post-industrial world

Speaking of SameSelf ignoring things, he has nothing to say when even his so-called evidence of desktop PCs being left out when it comes to new technology is shown to be untrue.

With a laptop, there really was no other choice than to add an M.2 port on the motherboard itself, but a desktop does not have the same limitations. Someone who really wanted to use an M.2 SSD in their desktop in 2013 could buy a PCI-e adapter that accepted an M.2 SSD.

Here is a page from 2013 article testing a Sony VAIO Ultrabook:
http://www.thessdreview.com/hardware/notebooks/sony-vaio-pro-13-ultrabook-native-pcie-...-speed-date/2/ Notice that the authors bought a PCI-e adapter and benchmarked the same M.2 SSD model used for the VAIO in a desktop system. The SSD functioned quite well using the adapter.

He did offer a disco reference though. We can't be far off desktop PC users being compared to Nazis now.

    Disco sucks.

Posted from my mobile, which, in testing, took much longer than it would with my desktop/PC.
I hate VHS. I always did.

After pressing refresh on my desktop PC now, submit again - wow this post is so much easier to complete!

Then again, VideoHelp isn't optimized for mobiles (yet), but, then again, I can still do it faster on a keyboard than with my thumbs.

Also, disco only sucks when it's not cool in a particular era, via theory. However, disco keeps coming back, again, and again, so I don't see the PC being dead either, again, and again, if it ever "dies".

Disco is the foundation of today's dance/club sound. Check out "Walking On Music". The groove is pure energy.

Discothèque music was essentially good. The so-called 'dance music' of today ("house", "techno", pile-driver sound, whatever) is not music at all, is noise, is garbage, and that's all.

Since I was a college student back then... That song was never intended to be appreciated as great disco music. If anything it was a parody of disco, and intended to make the audience laugh. However, I suppose some people didn't get the joke then, and I guess some don't get it now. Your first clue that this was a joke might have been the song was performed by a group by the name of Rick Dees and His Cast of Idiots.

The blurb on YouTube explains it perfectly: "... here's 2 extremely rare deleted scenes that did not make the DVD extras. The first is a funny dance sequence to "Disco Duck"." Obviously, the intent was to be humorous there as well. "Disco Duck" is also classified as a novelty song.

If there is something that should be dead since ages ago, its name is not 'Personal Computer', its name is ASCII.

Because of the undue respect for that abomination from decades ago, we still have to live with the following ugly hacks:
