  2. Do you run an analysis with MeGUI and is the video interlaced or progressive etc?

    If the video is interlaced, try using QTGMC for de-interlacing (instead of Yadif etc).

    QTGMC()

    If the video is progressive, you can still try QTGMC, but in progressive mode.

    QTGMC(InputType=1)

    Same questions. What's the nature of your "videos"? We need more information.

    The top two images show dark and bright halos, plus aliasing usually caused by improper deinterlacing. The third image down has oversharpening halos. The bottom image shows improper interlacing and block noise caused by poor encoding (bitrate too low).

    We need to see some unprocessed samples of your original source(s). We'd also like to know what you're trying to do.

    DeBlock might help with some macroblocks, but it won't help aliasing or the other artifacts.

    - Upscaling from what? Here's the bad news. Resizing has a quality cost. Always, more or less, the damage depending on how it's done.
    - If you're upscaling SD to HD, prepare for a disappointment.
    - Don't use Lanczos. It sucks. If you think you have oversharpening halos and other artifacts, wait til Lanczos gets through with it.

    HD has different requirements in frame structure and a lot of other elements. Just resizing isn't enough. We still don't know what kind of source video you're working with. So there's not much advice anyone can offer.

    Your television is perfectly capable of upscaling, and probably better than you.

    If the quality is crap to begin with, it'll still be crap whether you or the television do the upscaling. Do you have a sample from your source DVD so we can have a look?
