    Hello there.

It's really nice that I've found you. Hope you can help me out.

I have a collection of 720p mkv which I want to convert (some minutes of each mkv) to mp4 and then upload it on YouTube, keeping the maximum possible quality. MPEG Streamclip was really slow, with Handbrake YouTube was giving me a "sync problem" message so I ended up using iFFMpeg -which I find really great by the way. Pretty quick, many settings, a solid format support.

However, I can't find the settings that will give me the maximum quality. Considering the fact that every video will be around 4-8 minutes maximum, plus that I don't really mind about the size of the converted mp4 (If that's what it takes, 1GB is ok by me), which settings would you suggest?

    Thank you in advance,
    Akis

Try use x264/h264 video with constant quality/quantizer with a value of around 20 in iffmpeg.

Or can't you just cut with mpeg streamclip and use the save as function and save as mp4. No renconversion. You can also cut with avidemux.

Just downloaded Avidemux. Many settings, little information about them. Any help would be more than welcome.

Concerning MPEG Streamclip, I have a problem with the specific MKV and I cannot choose the right audio channel. MKV works great, MPEG Streamclip doesn't.

Under video and audio choose copy to avoid any reconversion. But you might have to reconvert if your mkv contains video and audio tracks that aren't supported in a mp4 container. Or save as a new mkv and try upload it to youtube. You can choose audio track under audio in the top menu.
