Recently I have had problems with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works not opening Xvid.avi files I want to convert..... It will load the file and when I got to edit the file I just get a black screen but the audio is fine. I just downloaded the most recent XVID a couple weeks ago, I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not....Divx files loads fine, the Xvid files are the problem. Here is a the media info on a couple of the movies:

I don't recall TVMW5 ever stating that they had native XVid support for input or output. Are you just editing, or are you trying to re-encode to another format? TVMW5 is not a smart-rendering editor. Basically, it's an encoder.

I finally got it figured out....had to delete the new version of Xvid and install an older version
I usually convert with TMPGEnc
from one format to another.
So I would assume now that the new Xvid will not work with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5
thanx for your input!

I wouldn't know, as I've had little use for Xvid during the past few years, and would never subject a video to multiple lossy re-encodes in the first place. But many people do (I don't know why). It's possible that TMPGenc is really conniving with ffdshow or some other XVid codec source in your system, because TMPGEnc doesn't come with native XVid support any more than it comers with native support for Lagarith or hufffyuv.
