Ooh, i so have been waiting for this.
Test complete. Line:
Plays without any issues in mpc-hc, kmplayer, wmp.Code:x265.exe --q 20 --keyint 80 -b 0 --max-merge 1 --me 3 --rect --hash 0 --tu-intra-depth 1 --tu-inter-depth 2 --no-tskip --no-tskip-fast --amp --input "intermediate.y4m" --output "....hm10"
Seeking is relatively smooth and precise. ( another one with bframes soon )

Famille_CB,
Get Strongene PC HEVC/H.265 Decoder from
http://xhevc.com/en/downloads/downloadCenter.jsp -
OK.
I can read .hm10 files now. For example this one.
I have downloaded this one by following a link on this address: http://xhevc.com/en/hevc/decoder/download.jsp. The file is on a Chinese or Japanese web site.
I would like to encode ".avi" files. Is it possible? These ".avi" files come from Sony Vegas Pro 12 trough a frame server (debugmode). When I create the input file I can chose the space color between "RGB24", RGB32 and "YUY2".
For the moment I use this way to encode my videos using MeGUI and x264.
Can you help me?
Thank you.Last edited by Famille_CB; 25th Sep 2013 at 09:25.

For the time being, x265 accepts only "raw video" as input. So you MUST convert your AVIs to either Y4M or YUV files. You can create these with ffmpeg, avs2yuv (requires Avisynth intermediation), or (possibly) Mencoder (which I don't use and don't know very-much).
P.S.: As an alternative, you might try the Lentoid DirectShow Encoder, which doesn't require "raw" inputs.
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/357367-HEVC-Encoder-by-Strongene-Lentoid
Caveats: 1) requires the use of Graphstudio, 2) puts a (tiny) watermark on the encode, 3) output is wrapped as an FLV file.Last edited by El Heggunte; 25th Sep 2013 at 10:10. Reason: add P.S.

hi, i'm french too, do you know m4ng? The last version can encode with x265.exe
(Salut je suis Français aussi, tu connais m4ng? La dernière version permet d'encoder en x265)

Commit 0dbfb0b has added support for multiple references:
Added a commandline parameter '--ref <max number of references>'. DPB size
adjusted to use number of references.

Traitor! You are using some dubious file-sharing site too!
Thanks for x265_0.4.1+39-4014edcf2157.7z.Last edited by LigH.de; 27th Sep 2013 at 13:02. Reason: Added a smilie to make it less serious.

no, not traitor..but a samaritan! you miss the history of why in another thread. short answer: because for some of us (me) are blocked from those sites and can't download. the same for pictures/images posted here via link, are blocked.

Sorry, I forgot the SarcMark™.
MediaFire appears to be a quite fair file hoster, and I hope it is a widely accepted one. But in case of despair, for such small files I could even offer parts of my own webspace without being afraid of too much traffic.
Apropos small ... the last builds are remarkably smaller (<300 KB instead of ~400 KB), are they just source-tidied, or compiler-optimized, or runtime-compressed (doesn't seem so, looking at the EXE)?Last edited by LigH.de; 27th Sep 2013 at 13:04.

@ LigH: when I'm not too lazy, I upload the build to this forum, create a new post, and edit the first post in this thread. But when I'm too lazy, I upload the build to Mediafire and edit the first post, without increasing my post count. As you can see, there is a method in my lazyness
As for the filesizes of the binaries, yes, the MCW team is somehow cleaning up the source-code. The first GCC builds were around 5MB big. But the smallest binaries still are the ones generated by Microsoft's Visual C++ -
"For the record" (again):

ok, so i saw that this morning. and the same thoughts come to mind.. where's the (full) params for both encoders and the versions used ?
-
^ Me agrees
with you both. I just thought his post could be more useful (i.e., receive more feedback) here than at Doom9. As vhelp already said some weeks ago, doom9.org has become a ghost town, therefore...

I encoded a new test with x265_0.4.1+39, this time with the experimental option of multiple references.
Code:-q 12 -b 3 --ref 3 -i 240 --rdpenalty 1
HM 12 decodes it clean. Osmo4 (GPAC 4803) plays it fine.
Next: B-frame bias (miss a valid range in the help, "default = 0" is too little) and Trellis... -
B-frame bias 30 appears to be useful and usable, no obvious issues in the playback.
Log
But there are still unanswered questions...
- Still no support at least for input pipes?
- The MSVS build reports 16bpp (instead of 8bpp for the MinGW builds), does it support DeepColor input?
-
bug report for 0.4.1+39-4014edcf2157 build -- inaccurate "fps" progress reported during encoding.
has this been officially reported yet ?
i know i reported it way back when in one of these threads. has been in all the builds. and is definately noticeable on slower pc's.
edit: i.e., in a frame being encoded it reported 0.42 fps when it clearly took over 10 seconds.Last edited by vhelp; 28th Sep 2013 at 14:13.

has anyone tried muxing pieces of hevc encoded videos into one main video ?
i have encodes i do and redo, but then i got a thought, how about contatenating them, maybe with audio too. and then play through osmo4 sw player.
i would try it but i'm knee deep into programming projects, taking short breaks here and there to read topics and google searching around quickly.
i'm encoding different pieces for different encoding scenarios and whatnot, but it would be nice if i could just mux them all together rather than reencode them all again once i'm at that stage. i recorded snl last night, you know.. miley cyrus hosted. anyway. i deinterlaced it an am encoding for 720x480/60p and would like to see the results that is if x265.exe and osmo4 sw player supports 60p videos.
can someone at least try and report back ? -
^ concatenating is one thing, muxing is a different thing, so
I don't know whether I fully understood what you tried to say
But yes, if you're sure the elementary streams DON'T use open GOPs, and share the same dimensions and frame rate and etc., then concatenating them through the olde and goode
copy /b file1 + file2 + ..... + fileN final.hevc is possible and works fine
The latest alpha builds of MP4Box should be capable of joining MP4 files containing HEVC,
in the same way it deals with Xvid, H.264 or MPEG-2, however I have not tested this yet
Still waiting for the next MAJOR update in MKVtoolnix,
I have no will to be a guinea pig for the most recent incarnation of the DivX Bundle -.- -
yes, that was term i ment, joining. and yes, through mp4box. their -add command is what i was assuming. and yes, all videos are same criteria. come on, you know me, stuck on SD content. well, except i am now testing 60p for deinterlaced stuf. this video took 3.5g to encode to y4m. i should have just used .yuv instead because i ran into problems with my system and other things. oh well. i'm working through the problems now. thanks anyway.

JFYI, x265 win32/64 builds (mingw/vc11):
https://x265.cc/
As always: You should never trust non self compiled binaries.
