  1. Hi Guys,

I'm wondering if there is an app capable of re-naming *existing* chapters in Mp4/Mkv, etc ?

Currently with MediaInfo, I can see there is a list of chapters like this +/-:
    01 - Chapter 01
    02 - Chapter 02
    03 - Chapter 03

Is there a way to rename them?

    Thanks for any helpful info!

  2. Popcorn chapter maker can do that.
Load that mkv into Chapter Maker , rename those chapters, save XML . Run MkvMerge Gui, uncheck those chapters and load that new XML under Global TAB, Chapter Files. There might be easier way to do this, but I go through this XML file. As a matter of a fact Popcorn Chapter maker is a tool for me to create that XML file, that I use in MKV Merge gui for my home videos.

here is a discussion from popcorn forum: http://188.138.72.109/showthread.php?tid=13034&page=3

Antivirus might report some virus, but author says in that thread that it is ok

I was into this some time ago, I use mkv for home videos with extra audio tracks, subtitles (datestam or comments), did research how to create chapters with gui interface and possibly with visual feedback. This is only what I found to my supprice .

  5. I have an update, it just came up today, based on this thread:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/336919-Tool-for-Editing-MKV-Without-Re-Writing-Entire-File

It is very easy to change or create chapters for MKV file, without muxing the MKV again using mkvproedit.exe !
Create newchapters.XML perhaps with that Popcorn Chapter maker, that loads mkv only file anyway, and then run this command in command window:

    mkvpropedit --chapters newchapters.XML "C:\......\movie.mkv"

So there is no need to remux mkv again just for adding chapters
