Hey, you're the one who keeps asking people to cite references to studies when they mention anecdotes that do not match your experiences. I guess it only goes one way, huh.
Anyway, as you have anointed yourself and your business site "the ultimate source" and the NASA of optical media, as the reason for not having to cite sources, I guess there's not much point in continuing.

You're referring to my responses from this post -- https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/318264-Examples-of-VCR-degradation -- regarding the propagation of unfounded myth surrounding VHS tape storage and VCRs. Nobody (that I'm aware of, at least) has ever come forward and presented findings after having research thousands of video tapes laying in different positions. It's just another one of those bullshit things people say online, because "they" (whoever that is) said it. That wasn't even an anecdote. When pressed for who gathered the information and came to a conclusion regarding which way a tape needs to be stacked, nobody ever seems to know. All you get is "I heard/read it somewhere one time". Well, that's not good enough!
That differs quite a bit from a group that says "we did research and here are the results".
Your comparison is invalid.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Many times a post would claim a specific operation or change in firmware now allowed functions to or items to work that had been shown not to work
When pressed ro more information. No reply was given or, Well I need to call my friend who said he has done so, Or I read this on another form and will get the info for you and than never hear from them again on the issue. Sometimes they might get back to say its being worked on ask, What unit was the issue on.
As I said in another post on this thread. I had disagreed with [Lordsmurf] on an issue related to some specific disks.. His posts, it seemed to me, were questioning the quality control of some disks. I had been intermittently using one. I thought could be I might chick and did
[He was Right [ - I was using Verbatim disks but did use a number of quote crap disks. that were recomended.
Some seemed ok but many failed. [To many] but at this time I have been able to fix or replace most I was lucky .
There was no testing as posts had shown the disk to be OK. My experience had no tests Just a real life experience..
PS
A person can either take or leave advice . A test graph does not always show a true result or if the disk will last
There were others that questioned these disks.
