If you have problem downloading streaming flash video using simple tools like Video DownloadHelper, Orbit Downloader, VDownloader, etc then it try this method. It might not work with all flash video streams though.
Tools required:
URL Snooper
RTMPDump(also called FLVStreamer)
Guide:
Start URL Snooper and under General Options click Auto Determine Network Adapter Now or choose the Network manually.
Under Search and at the bottom paste the url to your video page and press Download. Then search for RTMP or RTMPE under the protocol tab, right click on it and choose Copy selected URL(Strip all args). If you don't find any RTMP streams then first start play the video in your browser and try click on Sniff Network and wait until you see a RTMP link.
After you copied the url we use the command line tool RTMPDump. Download it to for example C:\temp and then start the Command Prompt(Start->Program->Accessories->Command Prompt) and in the command line type
and replace the "rtpme://"-stream with the one you copied from URLSnooper. Right click in the command prompt to Paste.Code:"C:\temp\rtmpdump.exe" -r "rtmpe://fl11.c90909.cdn.qbrick.com/90909/_definst_/kluster/20091027/geose_PG-1131239-010A-TRUEBLOOD1" -o "c:\temp\video.flv"
It should like,
and if it works RTMPDump will start download the file,
Done!
Last play the video.flv with VLC or MPCHC.

Hello.
Does your guide can works for which sites around?
I mean: if i can't download some videos using vdownloader, for example, it's posssible using this guide instead?
I'll test later some sites, just like : http://xvideos.com/ ( xxx one site )
If I got some problems I'll post my issues. :P
Thanks.
Best regards. -

Can anybody help me with this warning, please...
WARNING: HandShake: Type mismatch: client sent 6, server answered 8

ERROR: Closing connection: NetStream.Play.StreamNotFound -
I've got to agree with samthjj67. If Orbit or Video DownloadHelper don't work, Stream Transport is your best bet. I don't think that I've found anything that one of these couldn't download. As for http://xvideos.com/, either Orbit or Video DownloadHelper will work on it, just fine.

Try streamtransport. https://www.videohelp.com/tools/StreamTransport

Yep, all old versions: https://www.videohelp.com/tools/StreamTransport/old-versions#download

Hi there,
I just downloaded latest version 1.0.2.2171, installed etc but once launched it wouldn't load any website including clicking Hulu.com. Uninstalled and tried the same using version 1.0.2.2041 since many said the older version's are less buggy but same result. Anyone know why? Or how to fix this?
Appreciate it. Thanks! -
orbit just failed RTMP stream but i guess that's what the changelog for newest version says anyways 7. Support HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, MMS, RTSP and RTMP protocols.
You can easily download files with a browser click from any remote server via HTTP/ HTTPS/ FTP/ RTSP/ MMS. And the RTMP protocol will be supported soon.
Gonna try RPMTdump method now -
Try Streamtransport first. Much easier.
-
tried rtmp dump urlsniffer found the rmpte stream but could not figure out rmptdump tried streamtransport but didn't work for yahoo7.com.au/plus7 videos ..
-
As everyone said, orbit, videodownload helper, stream transport and rtmp dump are all great tools, and there is not one perfect tool to download content.
I wanted to add a couple more:
- Flashgot (Firefox extension) media feature works great sometimes: https://addons.mozilla.org/fr/firefox/addon/220/. You have to right click the blinking floppy disk icon to download files.
- HiDownload: Although it's paying, it's well worth the money for me since it integrates a sniffer. There are some videos that only this one will be able to download.
One last tip if you have the url but the file refuses to download
Open a sniffer to look for the name of the file
Play the video or other content in a browser that will force caching (for example, there is this one site that will not cache the video in Firefox or chrome, but will cache it with IE)
Use the freeware "search everything" or similar software to find where the file was cached. http://www.voidtools.com/download.php
Copy it to your destination. -
I use Stream Transport quite often.
The only thing I don't like about it is that there isn't
an ad blocker, so some movie sites redirect you
to an ad page and so you can't download the movie.
Anyone have any suggestions on that? -
Can you download video files from some streaming sites e.g this URL http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-live-session-1
-
Yep, anything will be able to download that. It's one of the simplest streams to download.
-
if you extract the folder from rtmpdump 2.3 Windows edition, and put it in C:, then this script should work for you:
"C:\rtmpdump-2.3\rtmpdump.exe" -r "rtmpe://viaco.net/video640.flv" -o "c:\video.flv"
PAUSE
just copy and paste into Notepad, then replace "rtmpe://viaco.net/video640.flv" with your URL in quotes, and save the whole thing as a .BAT file. you can then just click on it and it will show you it's work, along with any errors, pausing afterwards so you can view the details once it is done
you can always right-click and edit the .BAT file for your next download too! easy as Pi!

I was going to start a new thread but this seems appropriate.
Is there a more consistent program for downloading from rtmpe sites than streamtransport?
I've been using streamtransport to download a few sets of videos that I want off the net. Streamtransport has been very good but it is very sporadic lately. I don't want to mention the site I'm using with it but there have been more misses than hits. The worst part is when it bombs out it just x's out the download file and stops retrying the download.
This is annoying since I just want to set up a batch download and let it go overnight. But if it x's out the download and doesn't attempt to redownload it I don't get anything. Is there a way around this?
Is rtmpe changing the game again and the free programs are having a tougher time catching up to it? (I would be tempted to do a payware program up to about 50.00 usd - fyi I do have tunebite 7 but I don't think it does direct rtmpe download just screen recording which I want to save as a last resort).
FYI I did update to the newest version of the program and I still get the same issue.
---------------------
Also on a side note would running two instances of streamtransport effectively double your downloading power? Or would it simply slow down to a crawl? (I have cable internet fyi). Thanks.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
-
Well never hurts to ask.
Any suggestions for improving batch downloading? If streamtransport would simply reinitialize the download attempt I'd be happy with it. But the fact you have to manually resume the stopped download limits the effectiveness of bulk downloading.Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw? -
Does anyone know a way to download streams from http://www.europafilmtreasures.eu/ ?
Any attempt to grab a stream results in a small dummy file being downloaded instead. -
EFT's website uses FlowPlayer. more info/suggestions here:
https://forum.videohelp.com/threads/297712-Anyway-to-save-flow-player-video-s
FlowPlayer uses something it calls "pseudostreaming", which is what is keeping you from getting the ACTUAL video:

I just downloaded one with StreamTransport. Oops, no. It was a different file. Just an intro video.
-
Yes, the StreamTransport developers have admitted defeat (so far) for that site.

Hi folks
Just wondering if anyone with superior ripping skill and knowledge might be able to help me out. I have tried EVERY program I can find (Replay Media Catcher, StreamTransport, rtmpdump etc) but I have had no luck in downloading this video from the awesome Dutch website 3VOOR12, specifically the INTERPOL concert from Amsterdam 2010:
http://3voor12.vpro.nl/tv/#/41129552/44266170/11
Any help would be very very much appreciated.
Streaming websites seem to be constantly evolving to be ahead of ripping software, www.moshcam.com for instance no longer seems to be able to be ripped using Replay Media Catcher.
