Hmm. Looks like so far I'm the only one that's halfway liking this show.
I'm with ya! Though i'm so starved of scif-fi that i'll watch pretty much anything remotely of the genre.

I like it a hell of a lot more than Dollhouse... (and i'm a Joss Whedon fan)

Same here man. I'm also looking forward to the new V series even if it is a remake.

    V does have some potential

V was great when it first came out in the mid 80's. I could sware that there were more seasons than 2, but I guess they must'ev ben repeats.

    just to add, ...

I may watch the first ( pilot ? ) episode if it comes out, and if some of the original casts are in it. I see that that the char Diana is back, at least I think that's here in the imDB the titles says "Resistance" so I wonder if it will be where it left off or will they start from scratch. Still, I'd love to see Diana (Jade Badler) in it and a few other casts.

There was a movie, then a mini-series, then a regular series, all one continuous story line. I'm looking forward to the new series. I doubt it will have the same impact as the original, but the effects should be cooler.

(Edit: I may have the order wrong, but I know that it came in all three flavors.)

Well I have given up on Universe. It is just too dark and depressing. There isn't any levity to it. Also its more like a long drawn out movie than a tv series.

Its too dark to enjoy it. There isn't much action and the characters are kind of flat.

I did not watch last nights nor did I record it.

Also dragging Anderson on for a 2 minute cameo every now and then isn't helping out enough.

SG-1 turned into ST:Next Gen with all the spaceship battles.
Atlantis was clone of STS9, far away outpost
Universe is clone of ST:Voyager, stranded across known space.

The Ancients have been retconned so many times now that I can't make any sense out of them anymore.

I'll watch the show mostly because nothing better is on. It wins by default of sucking the least.

Yeah that's pretty much it huh......

Sure wish it would get better though.... kind of the same old crap with new little snippets thrown in....

Although i think Lou Diamond Phillips character might be heading for an asswhoopin after last nights EP.

True but Sg1 had a little more of the original series in it than just tng. Tng was more of a think piece than pure action. Now I'm not saying Andersons version of Jack O'neil was Captain Kirk by any stretch of the imagination, but nor was he Jean Luc Picard - If there was any comparison there I'd say Daniel was closer to Picard (being a mediator type and academic) and Anderson was sort of a hybrid of Riker and Worf -(mostly action)

I am actually enjoying this series. I could use a little less drama though and a little more scifi action.

I think the communications stones are kinda neat (however unplausible even in its own universe). Just curious, were they ever used in any SG1 or Atlantis episodes?

It's hard to feel sorry for the senator's daughter. What a dirtbag. The drama of her getting angry about her boyfriend seeing her best friend, meanwhile she's humping the soldier? Again, dirtbag. I feel like it's a WB or MTV version of Stargate at those times.

Eli is probably the only likable character.

    Yes.

They were first used in a season 6 or 7 SG1 episode. This barber got one in a garage sale and saw everything that ONeil went through. Eventually he confronted ONeil and they found out that they worked both ways.

They were used later in a Season 9 episode with Jackson and Valla using them to discover the Ori. That was how the Ori found out about our galaxy.

I don't know if they were ever used on Atlantis...

Thanks for the info dude. Nice to know they didn't just make them up and throw them in because of this show. I do think its cool in terms of anyone being able to guest appear on the ship.

I did catch that but wasn't sure if it was admiration/ infatuation or something more. Admittedly, I really like the blonde Medic.

I think Everett had an affair, cheated on his wife, with the medic. That's what I'm guessing, based on what I've seen so far.

Yep, because in that last episode he dreamed about her then his Ex was pissed because he is stuck out there with her.

Well they already had the season finale. It was only on for what 2 months?

Does this mean they killed it? I hope so. The show wasn't any fun. Just dark and dreary. Nothing intersting. It was too melodramatic and not scifi enough.

Hopefully they'll fire the current writing staff and hire a whole new group...

Oh I didn't know it was "midseason". It would have been a monumental snoozer of a cliffhanger if that was the end of season 1.

There's gonna be another 10 episodes for season 1 most likely coming out in feb,I like that the characters have known flaws and things dont always get solved and everybodies happy after, just wished they had a bit more levity but i guess it would be a bit depressing not knowing where you're going and and not in control.
    I think,therefore i am a hamster.

I can see people wanting scifi characters to be a bit more "human" and not perfect. But my god these people are not interesting or sympathetic. Ok you're gonna die or something but theres no attachment to them in my opinion.

I did watch the "finale" but I mean they've done court trial stuff ad nauseum and I even fast forwarded through half the show because of it.

I am fighting back in my own way. I bought Atlantis Season 5 on the black friday spree and I have season 2 and should be getting season 1 shortly off of ebay. I'll fill in 3 and 4 sometime.

Atlantis is much more fun than Universe though not the same as SG1 - obviously no sequel ever is and if they are exactly the same they are accused of being simply a copy.

I think what hurts Universe too is the lack of a direct connection to either Sg1 or Atlantis. Sure they do call ins with the stones and get a Anderson appearance now and then but he's not integral to the plot - just a set piece.

That was what was good about Atlantis with having Rodney be a main character. He was already established in SG1 and had a history (albeit small guest star type history).
