  1. I'm trying to convert my 640x480 .mov analog video clip with SUPER. This file is H.264, or .mp4, AVC, etc. I try to convert these clips using SUPER the exact same way as I usually do, but the clip is either getting an error telling me that I can't convert to .asf or something about DirectShow if I check it or not, but I was always able to do those things before build 3.5 was released. Another problem was 'ffmpeg.exe' encounters a problem as the video is being parsed. Either of those two, SUPER has never ever gave me ANY problems whatsoever before I updated SUPER to build 3.5 (Jan. 5th, 2009). These are the same exact video files that SUPER was able to work with in the past and convert perfectly, but now it's not doing it anymore, and I believe it's because the new build may have problems, or maybe I'm doing something wrong, Idk.

It may have a few bugs in it maybe, because I was able to convert these videos and use them properly with a program called Super Video Converter, so it's safe to say it's not my video that is messed up...

I am pretty sure I'm using the same exact codecs and options as I always have with using SUPER, and it worked fine with them. Ever since I updated it, SUPER has been giving me errors with my video clips left and right, and there was a trojan (Generic!Artemis) that would always appear as I opened SUPER (the trojan was always in the WINDOWS/Temp file, I think it was affecting a file called zcodec5 or something), then MacAfee would quarentine it.

Is there anyone out thee whos still has the older build????? If so,plz send me the link to the older version of SUPER? Cuz that version has never given me problems. Ever since I updated it to build 3.5, it has been refusing to convert my video clips I'd throw at it, yet they're the same exact clips that SUPER was able to work with 100% perfectly fine in the past....

  2. Wow thanks a lot!!!!!! I'm gonna see if this works, hopefully it really ISN'T my video and was just the buggy newer version...

  3. Baldrick, I downloaded it but it's not starting up when I click it in the Start Menu...

Did the installation work fine? I think some of the older versions had such a problem, it took long to start and was hard to bring up.

Yea, it downloaded perfectly fine and installed fine. It's jsut when I opened SUPER from the Start Menu or from Program Files (C, it wont open.

Ur right, SUPER does normally take a while to load up, but not THIS long, but it's been about 15 minutes since the last time I opened SUPER, and it still hasn't came up...

Unfortunately, when you install a version of SUPER - any version - it does something to prevent previous versions from working. (I don't know what it does - registry keys, some file somewhere that tells SUPER what the last most-recent version installed was... no idea.)

eRightSoft is very adamant about not supporting anything but the latest version of SUPER, and this is one of their ways of trying to keep people from using older versions, just so they don't have to field support questions for those versions. I'm not saying I agree with it, though.

The trojan/etc. detections were probably a false positive - make sure your virus scanner and its definitions are up-to-date. But SUPER still does a number of things behind-the-scenes that security programs (and sometimes, even Vista's UAC) don't like.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?

But the trojan isn't wat's affecting SUPER cuz MacAfee always quarentines it. I'm just really confused to y the latest version of SUPER doesn't work? And I've seen other ppl say that SUPER 3.5 isn't working for them either.

Is there ANY other free video converter as good as SUPER out there that actually works?!! UGH

I'm enraged because I actually thought I had my video converting problems over with with SUPER. I used that program for months and converted tons of videos with it, and they all were fine. Now ever since it updated, it's giving me errors and stuff crashes and crap, but the videos I use r the same exact type I used with the program before!!

No matter wat program I use, it makes me think I finally found a solution to this, then of course something ALWAYS seems to go wrong forcing me to abandon it and re-live hell trying to find another program to convert my videos (properly). I was so furious when I found out SUPER started to malfunction, I was going CRAZY.

U guys have no idea how many times I found a converter that seemed to be the solution, but then there's ALWAYS that ONE THING that happens like soemthing crashes, u need to buy something, u know wat I mean... I just can't believe SUPER failed on me! After months of successfuly using it...now it jsut decides to malfuntion, and here we go AGAIN with trying to find another free program that's as good as SUPER, which is impossible...

Will I ever find a way???? WILL I?? I was so mad last night I was like pummeling myself and I was so taken over by my anger I might've hurt myself without me knowing. Now u guys know what I've been through lol :P

If McAfee thinks something in the SUPER package is a trojan, and is quarantining it, that could be why SUPER isn't working. SUPER's also very insistent about its components being there, the exact versions it expects to see, etc. If something isn't present (because it's being quarantined, for example), SUPER probably won't work.

That said, have you tried other converters like WinFF or Xvid4PSP? (Despite the name, it does quite a bit more than just convert for the PSP.) I don't normally use all-in-one converters all that often, though, so I might not be the best person to ask.

Hmm, maybe, cuz it said the trojan was in something called "zcodec5" in 'WINDOWS/Temp'.

Hmm, I haven't heard of those converters before. I'll check them out. All I need to do here is convert my .mov (NSmov) to a .asf (like I always did with SUPER), and then import them to WMM. The only thing is tho, some converters I use for .mov to .asf don't work. Like they'll convert, but it'll screw up the video or some other stuff.

SUPER is the only video converting program out of the 20+ some converters I've tried that actually works with converting my .mov clips to .asf with the WMV7 video codec and .mp3 audio, wont screw up the video (i.e. slow motion, bad quality), and acceptable by WMM.

And r u sure about the trojan affecting it? Cuz on some forum I heard 2 people say it wont start up or it wont work and stuff, so...

  10. I tried WinFF, but that doesn't work either. Windows Movie Maker still keeps saying stuff like this when I try to import the clip:

"C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Desktop\FILE0005.(file format here) could not be imported. The selected file is not valid or is corrupted."

It says that for every single converter I've tried, exept for SUPER, but of course eRightSoft had to update it and ruin it!!!!!!

Why do all the converters I use corrupt my files???

I still have to try Xvid4PSP, and it must be a huge file cuz it's gonna take forever to download it... And I bet u any amount of money it's gonna corrput my file again. Just watch! I know it is!
