Has anybody seen the daylight savings time fix (TZEdit) for OS before Windows 2000? FYI http://support.microsoft.com/gp/cp_dst has instructions plus download link for Windows 2000, XP and Vista, but I find no link for Win Me and earlier versions. For any who don't know just changing time manually in Windows may cause problems. Initially I just changed time manually resulting in a program continuing to display standard time, and it reset PC to standard time too each time the program was started.

Given the basic nature on Micro$oft I would expect that they don't support any of their software over about 5 years old so I think ME, and 9X are (politely) stuffed.
Slightly off is About Time
http://www.arachnoid.com/abouttime/index.html
which sets the time and date based on selected time servers on the net. which will at least allow you to keep the date/time correct.
As far as I know you can just change the date/time via the clock in the system try (or if you are an old hand like me using the date and time commands in dos). Assuming everything s installed correctly this will update the date/time in the bios.
This has never caused me any problems EXCEPT on some trialware which detected the change and assumed I was trying to get extra time for evaluation. -
Fixes are available for Win95, 98, ME and NT 4.0:

TZEdit is supposed to work on Win98 and WinME versions, as well as later versions of Windows. And changing the time manually (+/- an hour or two) shouldn't cause any issues. Also, while connecting to a time server on the net will keep your minutes and seconds in sync, the hours are based on offsets from GMT time, so unless you change your registry to reflect the correct offset, your time will always be "off".

You don't need it. Just turn off DST on your computer.
When connected to the net your computer sets the time. Or just add one hour to your clock, it takes all of 5 seconds to do. -
As stated in initial post just setting the time manually fails due to the program resetting to standard time. The only way to fix it is through the patch which changes it in the registry, and I don't see how TZEdit would work in older Windows because there are no instructions for them plus the Win 2K and Win XP instructions are different.

From the MS site:
Method 1: Use the Tzedit.exe utility to manually modify the time zone
Use the Tzedit.exe utility to adjust the start and the end dates for daylight-saving time in the Uruguay time zone. The Tzedit.exe utility is available on any Microsoft Windows Resource Kit. To use this method, you must obtain the Tzedit.exe utility from the resource kit for your version of Windows. For more information about the Windows resource kits, visit the Microsoft Windows Deployment and Resource Kits Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/reskits/default.asp (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/reskits/default.asp)
This is from Knowledge Base #886775 and concerns an earlier change in DST in Uruguay. It can now be applied to all locations that had a change in the DST kick-off date.ICBM target coordinates:

Here's an easy utility:

They have a version for ME and 98 available as well.

Is Win98 supposed to continue to auto-update to DST after adding the intelliadmin patch? I tried that one (before the time change), and still ended up having to manually adjust the lone Win98 system in the house...

Win98 should do it as long as the "Automatically adjust clock for daylight savings changes" box is checked, and the patch is properly applied.
-
Yeah, I always had that selected, but... let me check.
Hmm. It is checked, but it's also greyed out, and the time zone is now set to (GMT) Casablanca, Monrovia, Reykjavik instead of Pacific Time.
Weird. I've reset it. Should've remembered to look at all of the Time settings.
Thanks. If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
