As most know, if you try to edit within a video with TDA, or add to a video in the the same track, there'll be a noticeable pause at the last frame before the edit joint (noticeable in a dvd player but not in the computer). The good news is if you run the TDA-made movie in Pgcedit, click on the actual movie file, you'll get a list of cells and a column next to them saying "seamless joints." If the cell checkbox is unchecked, then check it and now the pause will be gone.
Bad news is the video that follows after the joint now has 3 frames repeated (3 out of 16, not 3 seconds), so there's still a kind of tiny pause (by repetition). I'm pretty certain this 3-frame repeat is not there before I fix it in Pgcedit. I experimented clicking other boxes in the Cell menu, but this didn't change it.
Anyone know what do about this? I don't think the 3-frame is being caused by TDA, since it seems to happen AFTER I fix it in PGCedit. So close yet so far.

Fyi I'm not asking for other edit methods. Just specifically what's happening with these programs.

You don't need Pgcedit, you can fix the pause in TDA by deleting or moving by one I-frame the first chapter point of the second video added to the track. TDA always places a chapter point at the first frame of any video added to a track. As I said, just delete it or move it for the second video added.

Well , that fix has never worked for me.
In my experience TMPG DVD Author does NOT make correct edits.
(Trimming from begin or end works OK)
That's why I always first edit my recordings with TMPGEnc MPEG Editor before authoring them with DVD Author.

I've heard this before, and never works. Chapter points have nothing to do with pauses at edit points. The pauses are there, whether there's a chapter point or not. Are you burning onto +R, or loading a different kind of video file than regular Dvd video, or only watching in a computer? Must be some other reason you can get rid of the pause.

I'd like to avoid buying more software, though it sounds like a good program.
I tried Mpeg2cut but it threw off the audio sync, so I primarily use Megaschnitzel (whatever) for long editing jobs, but it takes so damn long - demuxing, compiling, remuxing, that for simple editing/joining, it would be great if TDA 1.6 would work. In the past, I've taken the TDA-made video, strip the VobId's in Ifoedit, and this removed the pause (without creating the 3-frame repeat). That takes a while to process, too, so I was really excited that Pgcedit simply gives you the option to remove pauses! There's gotta be an answer around the 3-frame repeat.

I burn to DVD-R, or DVD-RW, and watch in my settop player hooked to my TV. I've personally experienced the pauses caused by putting two or more videos on the same track in TDA. I've also personally experienced the pauses going away, again on my settop DVD player, after deleting the chapter point at the first frame of the second video.

The pause created by TDA is definitely part of the dvd structure, as Pgcedit shows. It could be how our dvd players handle the pause - have you always used the same dvd player?
I had some Dvdshrink-reauthored TV episodes which made my Pioneer player pause indefinitely between videos because 'Shrink doesn't put them on the same track. However, my friend's cheapo dvd player played the episodes without a break, or requiring me to hit "Next chapter" on the remote. By analogy, maybe your player doesn't notice the pause.
