  1. i had the film scarlet bought for me for xmas which had been imported from the us and it wouldnt play on my standalone (wrong area code)so i started looking in forums like this for an answer although there were quite a few solutions they seemed long winded and a bit techie so for anyone who has the same problem do this:-

    download dvd 43 its free
get 1click dvd copy pro (also free if you look in right places but assume you are paying for it)

dvd 43 will load with windows so when you pop the film in your pc it will remove area code protection aqnd alow you to watch it on your pc

    start 1click dvd copy
    and select copy
no need to do all that demuxing and the other techie stuff it does it all it will auto recode and remove protection also fit on one dvd

    hope this helps somone

  2. Your title is a bit misleading since you didn't convert anything to anything. All you did was to remove the region coding and then use a commercial program (which you evidently obtained illegally) to do something (transcode) that can just as easily and just as well be done using freeware. If your original DVD was NTSC, so is the shrunken one. Useless post.

    Agreed.
You did not convert NTSC to PAL....you simply removed the region code. This "method" is nothing new and completely useless when going the other direction(PAL in an NTSC environment).

Most pal dvd players will also play ntsc so no need to convert from ntsc to pal .... only the region code prevents you from playing the ntsc dvd in your player (although you may find a hack on this site to make your player region free) all you have done is made a backup of the dvd and removed the region code protection ... it is still ntsc.

You could have done the same job with other software ie. ripit4me, dvdfabdecrypter, dvdshrink and numerous others... all of which are free .... so no need to STEAL someones hard work to do the job

next time you consider doing a dvd backup use the freeware suggested or PAY for the stuff you STOLE

I would listen to those who responded, rather than the OP. His method will give you results that are quite inferior to other, better methods discussed here.

"The way I see it is that there is no right or wrong" way to get hectic.

You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning. Why dig up old topics with a link to 12Quidkidinnit post???
